The house was very nice. Close to the beach and not far from the main city center. The proprietors were friendly and very helpful. The location was quiet and peaceful.

All the good restaurants are outside Esponsende - mainly in Apulia. A nice little hike or short taxi ride. Bridge to Fao needs some TLC, at least if you walk over it. Fantastic views, but the rusty bits on the footpath high above the water are somewhat anxiety-inducing (and I even heard that from experienced Camino walkers ...) Would not walk over a second time ...

Esposende was one of the best places to stay that we have had on this trip for the Camino de Santiago. The people that run the hotel are wonderful and very friendly. Everything is very clean and they have a great lounge with a good kitchen to make what you want. I would recommend them and their rooms to anyone going to that area.

We thought everybody had left town.
We thought everybody had left town. The whole place was strangely quiet and deserted. We struggled to find an open place to eat. It was early September. A lot of derelict buildings.
Just about good enough for a one night Camino stopover.

We are an elderly couple who have been to the area many times since 1975 and never tire of it. It has not suffered overdevelopment like many other resorts. It is a great place to relax and enjoy the food and laid back style . The surrounding area such as Ponte de Lima is superb so a car enhances the experience.

Esposende is a nice little town and a cool spot for kitesurfing. When I was there it was quiet and relaxing. I couldn't find amazing places for lunch or dinner actually, but some nice local patisseries instead. Having said that, there is some offer, just not to the level I was hoping. The coast is nice, the wind strong, people are nice too, and it is very close to other nice towns in the north of Portugal

Very nice place with nice sea and the special cakes from Fao. If you are in Esposende you have definitely to go to get some "Clarinhas de Fão". Fão is on the south bank of the river. You can find them in a very small "pastelaria".
The room and bathroom and outdoor breakfast area were spacious, comfortable and surprisingly stylish with a simplistic portugese flair. Everything was impeccably clean and tidy! Our hosts couldn't have done more to make us feel at home and served us lovely breakfast in our own picnic basket each morning. We appreciated the daily tips on where to go and what to see and also made use of the free bikes to explore further afield. We also found the beach in Fao far superior to the ones on the Esposende side of the river.
Central location, brilliant for the Camino, the property is very well serviced for all your needs. We had an issue having badly sprained my ankle as we were about to cross the Fao-Esposende bridge, we’re our host help with establishing opening times for the local supermarket (a national holiday on the evening we arrived) but also went out her way to put us in touch with an English speaking taxi (thank you Sofia) driver who took us onwards to our next hotel🙏
Very high level of hospitality. Impeccably clean and tidy. Not every 5 star hotel can brag with this variety of hygiene supplies found in the bathroom. The host, a noble-looking Portugese senhiora, did her best to accommodate my requests despite the language barrier. The interior of the villa is fancy, borderline boujee :).
I booked a hotel by mistake from Thursday to Friday
And when I called to ask for some solution of this problem, the hotel said that there is nothing they could do, as they have already charged full price!
But they even haven’t called me yesterday when I haven’t arrived because I planned to do it today
Worst experience
We had a great stay at Esposende guesthouse. It was our one year anniversary and the lady left us 2 roses and chocolate each. It was so nice of them and after a long day walking the Camino these little things matter a lot. Kitchen had coffee machine and fridge.Overall very happy!!!
The location is really unique. It is truley cool, that the hotel stayed exactly like in the 70's. We enjoyed the vintage views. For some beach days and pool days its a good location with the instagrammable factor ;)
The breakfast was really simple, propperly fitting the 70s ;)
Perfect option for me for this trip as I needed a place in Esposende. Location is great, good price, whilst there everything was fine - great facilities and large property. There are other people staying there at the same time but in the whole time I didn't see anyone.
Good facilities, room was a good size & easy to park.
Staff were accommodating and helpful.
Although the hotel had a bar you were unable to buy a coffee later in evening. ( Would be helpful to have tea/coffee facility in room)/ vending machine accessible).
Maria wins the Camino award for the most fun hostess ever. Very nice living space with kitchen. Town didn’t have much by way of restaurants. Shopped at grocery right down the street and had a very nice dinner with the other pilgrims staying there
Absolutely amazing hotel! Located right across the street from the Camino. Beautiful pool, incredible staff, comfortable bed and room. Breakfast was terrific . Highly recommend!!
The check in staff were lovely and friendly.
The kitchen had everything.
There was cake for breakfast.
The room was fab.
More like a hotel than a hostel.
