Beautiful hotel well located. Pool was very nice, but no service from the bar at the pool. Nice selection of food for the buffet breakfast. Beds were comfortable and clean. Nice clean towels.

The staff is very friendly and the space is very clean. The breakfast is awesome. There were not many people, so we got to chill a bit in the pool. Is also very central, so you can go anywhere walking

I can’t say enough good things about this hotel. We sort of stumbled on it when we decided it was too hot to stay at the hotel in Elvas we had booked and thought a rural pool set up would be better. It sure was!! Top marks for all categories, including meals.

Pro’s: great location, rental was very clean, host was super-helpful and accommodating. Space was small but sufficient and beds and pillows were comfortable. Linens and towels were clean and fresh. All in all a great stay and great value for money (its like a hotel room so no frills, just a fridge and an electric kettle, but it is as listed and we expected that. Parking is close (right around the corner, underground and affordable). TV worked and had local channels.

The hotel is very well located in the town, it has excellent parking and great views out over the surrounding countryside.
I found the staff were very helpful in where to go & visit and provided annotated directions on a local map.
During my visit the restaurant wasn't open but there are plenty off options in the town

Off the beaten path, on the far East side of Portugal (nearly on the Spanish border). Friendly and interesting people, and interesting history to explore through castles, forts and a marvelous aqueduct.

Lots to see, so make sure you have comfortable clothing and shoes.
Like most Portugeus towns, it is very hilly with narrow streets and lots of steps.
Architecture is stunning and historic with plenty of stories of old.
More vegetarian/vegan restaurants would be a bonus.
The whole Alentejo region is a must-see when visiting this beautiful country.

Elvas is an historic old city with an amazing Roman aqueduct. The local restaurants were not catering for tourists and hardly anyone spoke English. We ate in the hotel which was good value in a lovely setting. We visited the British cemetery for the soldiers of the Peninsular War. The old town is is all cobblestone alleys and we kept getting lost but that was part of its charm.

This is a cool fort town on the Spanish border worth visiting. Great for practicing my Spanish and Portuguese. The old town is walkable and worth a day. Get a number of a local taxi service to explore the other two forts nearby, pick up groceries etc. Plan ahead of taking a comboio or autoexpresso as it's in a pretty remote location so you can't just catch a train out every 30 minutes like you can in Lisbon.
The region it is in, the Alentejo is also generally quite beautiful and it's worth taking a bus to Estremoz and the Evora if in the area.

A great small restaurant recommended by the Hotel was Mercato, is a perfect place to dine. Excellent service and food cooked to order with a lot of attention to quality and flavours.
Everything was perfect! The guest house was beautiful and everything was clean. The room was nice and big, had a great bathroom and a small refrigerator, which came in handy. The bed was really comfortable and I loved how everything was cleaned everyday! The dining room and the rooftops of the guest house were a cool place to have breakfast. There was a coffee machine and free crackers for every guest. Last but not least, the staff is really nice and cared to know if everything was okay or if we needed anything.
The hotel is beautifully located directly at the inside of the city walls . We really liked the old halls and the atmosphere inside the hotel; it was once a monastery. Our room had a big balcony with a great view to the garden and outside the city. The garden is very beautiful, full of olive, lemon and orange trees and a nice pool. Also the breakfast was very nice. We would fully recommend this hotel and we are just sad that we only could stay one night here in Elvas.

The host was here to welcome us and took the time to give us advice about the city and the places to visit, the restaurants, etc. It was very nice to chat with him. The apartment is ideally situated in the center in a beautiful small street, and the view from the terrace is wonderful. There were even a few things in the kitchen for us to cook.
Exceptional hosts/ owners that care about their establishment and the experience that guests will have of it and of the city. This translates into the quality of the rooms, the common areas and of the breakfast. It also leads to helping guests enjoy Elvas by making relevant individual recommendations and bookings. Highly recommended.
Vila Galé Elvas facilities and staff redefinied our standard of what is the best service an hotel can provide.
The kindness and atention we felt were great and the facilities are an example of how a building should be renewed.
We certainly will be back, not only because we loved Elvas but because we loved our stay at Vila Galé.
A small gem just outside Elvas! Beautiful house and rooms. We were very well received and had one of the best dinners on our trip! Real homemade local food at its best. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. The hostess/owner was so friendly and you immediately felt at home.
Beautiful settings, with wonderful garden and views, a large pool, enormous suites, warm, clean and comfortable rooms, and all beautifully decorated. Dinner was excellent and breakfast was large and high quality. A rural country hotel that surprised us.
We regularly stay at this hotel. It is well run, has good staff and is well placed for the centre of the city which is a 10 minutes walk across the Roman Bridge. Also private underground parking which many hotels in the city lack.
Good value.
Wonderful palace! Lovely pool and fantastic breakfast. We had an excellent tour of the hotel/palace. An honor bar forfor drinks! A walk uphill to the town of Elvas and restaurants. Great town for shopping as well.
Loved the charm of the hotel...Long history between Convent and Military use...My room was comfortable with everything I needed...Staff friendly and outgoing...Location optimal for exploring Elvas...
Hotel location was very good. The pool area was nice and relaxing. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom good. The hotel was interesting having originally been a convent.
Elvas is a lovely town and we have used this hotel before. A good walk into town but closer to the fort area where there are great dog walks and good views.
The apartment is located in the centre of Elvas, in an old building. The apartment has been renovated and has a fully equipped kitchen and airconditioning.
