Carvoeiro is a really cute town! It wasn't too crowded and had a ton of restaurants and shops. We walked along the Algar Seco trail to town and then took the tuk tuk provided by our hotel (Tivoli) back.
In my opinion, Carvoeiro was the perfect mid-point location in The Algarves. Easy to head in either direction to see many sites and towns (Lagos and Sagres in one direction; Albufeiro and Faro in the other direction).
We rented a car and found driving to be pretty easy (we did take one wrong turn and ended up on a street meant only for walking), but other than that, following gps directions and signage was good.

Carvoeiro was excellent, smaller and quieter than some of the other towns and still had more restaurants than you can visit in a week and they all were excellent. Easy walk to multiple beaches and lots of exploring to do with the Seven Hanging Valleys trail so close. No need for a car everything was a short walk. Carvoeiro Tours was an excellent boat tour of the caves that picked us up right on the beach. Boneca Bar in the Algar Seco was just a fantastic lunch stop after the tour for drinks and more exploring.

We were there in November, weather was rainy and windy the first day, but sunny and 65 the second day. This is a hard town to get to from Seville, so we ended up hiring a driver to take us from Seville to Faro where we rented a car and drove to Carvoeiro. Lovely little town. We ate at O Cantinho and A Gale, both traditional Portuguese restaurants that I would highly recommend. Great boardwalk along the cliffs above the ocean. Easy to walk around, hilly, but that did not bother us. Pretty short drive to Praha Marinha where we hiked the the seven hanging valleys trail. All in all, a great spot for exploring the Algarve. I would very much like to go back here.

We have been to this area before and like it’s proximity to the town, you can walk there is 30 mins, Carvoeira, also there are supermarkets cafes and restaurants nearby, some of the later you can walk to. There are several interesting towns nearby such as Alvor and Silves and beautiful boardwalks at Alvor and Salgados plus the lovely walk at beach at Pria do Vale de Centeanes.
Favourite place to eat for us have been O Algar at Benagil, La Bella Vita, Primavera plus Organic or Earth for breakfast/ brunch and Decadente for coffee snacks and drinks in the evening.

From the moment we arrived, the valet
and front desk staff, especially Gabriela and Ines went above and beyond to give us the most amazing room with an incredible view, quiet and private as well. They also helped with many wonderful recommendations. The hotel was lovely set in a gorgeous, natural setting. The Breakfast buffet was plentiful with a varied selection of hot and cold options. All of the hotel staff from housekeeping to wait staff, were warm, friendly and helpful in any way they could be. We had a fabulous holiday, thank you!
The pools are great: the indoor one is warm and the outdoor is cold. The rooms are really clean, spacious and the kitchen is well equipped. Shower is good and the bed is really comfortable. It’s good that we always had a parking space near the apartment. Staff was always super friendly and prompt to help. One thing I lived is that there’s a WhatsApp option to talk to the front desk, this resolved things way quicker and assisted a lot to get online material about the hotel hours, restaurant menu and map.
Hello, I would like to thank you for the super holiday in Carvoeiro and the warm welcome by Mrs Stella. She is very nice person and very helpful. I was a bit sceptical at first reading old comments from other guests, but not needed. Don't be suggested by them. The flat is very close to the centre, not far from the beach, very clean and has everything you need. If you have any questions Ms Stella is at your service. Thank you again and see you in the future. Regards, Lukasz
What a gorgeous hotel!! We had a stunning terrace with views of the ocean, beach and cliffs, and the hotel kindly placed our daughter next door with a balcony, so she could easily join us for breakfast. The views were fabulous, and breakfast was so lovely, absolutely worth the extra fee. Easy to park outside, and convenient to the breathtaking hikes along the cliffs. The woman at the front desk was a delight, extremely helpful and sweet. We were sorry to leave!
The guest house has the most amazing host! We were upgraded to an apartment so I can’t speak to the rooms in the guest house, but the pool, outdoor space and communal facilities were everything we could have hoped for and more. The guesthouse is less than a 5 minute walk to the beach and a 2 minute walk to the centre of Carvoeiro, so even though there’s no parking there was no need for a car and taxis were very cheap if we wanted to travel further afield.
The location was a touch noisy for me. I'm not really a city break or beach holiday kind of person, but as I was in Portugal anyway I decided it would be good to experience the Algarve. I had been staying in a remote location in the countryside so arriving in Carvoeiro was a bit of a culture shock for me. Despite all of that, I enjoyed it immensely. The apartment is tip top and I would recommend it to anyone.
Location, location. Great spot so close to the beach, shops, hiking. The host is an excellent communicator and resolved a couple of minor issues right away. Leading up to and during our stay, Jim was always providing information and assistance. The apt. was spacious and comfortable. The large terrace is a definite bonus. Very quite area. Would definitely recommend.
Just beautiful location and room. Lovely hostess who recommended this great restaurant o' rustico. Felt very comfortable at the hotel as a solo traveller. Hotel is in very secluded area, so no supermarkets. The hotel luckily provided a small area to buy some basic refreshments. Lovely breakfast.
The location is the biggest plus point. It’s bang next to the beach. Many rooms face the beach. It’s also next to the main town square so my bus literally dropped me in front of the hotel. I also loved the maps and information about the explorers from Portugal, all dotted around the hotel
Carla was a very welcoming host! She told me the best things to do and see around Carvoeiro. Bed was comfy, breakfast was really nice, ac worked well. Close to the beach and all the tourist shops. Nice quiet place to relax, I wish I would've stayed longer!
We received a very warm welcome with a lot of explanation about things to do in the area. The hotel is located near the centre and the beach. It has a swimming pool and a parking. The room was clean and spatious. The breakfast was better than we expected!
A spacious villa for 8 with a pool table, table tennis and pool. Great location, 15 minute walk to Carvoeiro beach and centre. Loads of shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. Stayed very cool in the villa in April.
Excellent location by the cliffs
Garden terrace per town house a real bonus
Spacious town houses
Max 20 min walk to centre of carvoeiro
Bar/ restaurant staff couldn't have done more for us
The apartment is very well equipped with everything one would need to create a perfect home away from home. Spotlessly CLEAN, very cozy, yet spacious.
The outdoor space is an absolute Oasis.
Excellent stay for a few days ending our Portugal road-trip. Very nice hotel and very nice staff. Special thanks to Pedro for his excellent wine recommendations.
Carvoeiro is one of our favorite towns in the Algarve. We were looking forward to staying at Villa Lourenco. Unfortunately, Villa Lourenco was a disaster.
