What an amazing place! Can’t say enough good things about the property. The owner was very accommodating, the property was beautiful and clean and we could lay in our bed and see the ocean waves crashing down during this super moon high tide! Surfers were out there in large numbers having a blast. We had a long drive on the day we arrived and our host made us the best frozen margaritas that we have ever had! The town is small and friendly which was perfect. This property has an awesome pool that we had to ourselves every evening. If your looking for a clean, comfortable, romantic getaway… this place is it! Best place we went to in Panama!

Nice view and location near a great surf break. We rented the 1st floor apartment and it met our needs for space and spreading out. Rented an additional single room for our 2 boys to sleep, but we were all able to hang out in the apartment. The pool was nice and kept clean. Food at the restaurant was good.

Excellent location, great room, daily housekeeping, friendly and helpful staff
This small hotel is located in Santa Catalina and features air-conditioned rooms, free breakfast and an outdoor swimming pools with sea views. Hotel Sol y Mar also has free Wi-Fi in public areas.
Santa Catalina is an interesting place. If I were younger and a surfer, it might be awesome. At this stage it feels like it is still the frontier, the “wild west” of Panama. It is obviously super popular with the crunchy backpacker and surfer crowd, and judging by the development taking place (golf course down the road), it will soon be popular with the expats and gringos as well.

Good place to have a day trip to Coiba, we did an excellent snorkelling tour with Watching Dolphins.
Playa Estero is very pleasant for a lazy afternoon ( but better with a car!).
Some pleasant restaurants in the village : We liked lodge bar and restaurant, very good and friendly.
Very disappointed by Los Penguinos, beautiful view and nice for a drink, but very very very long service.
There is an ATM near the Pharmacia and supermarket.

I’ve been to Santa Catalina about 9x in the last 15 yrs.
I’ve been to Santa Catalina about 9x in the last 15 yrs. It’s clearly a place I enjoy. I’m there for the diving. If you go there to dive you should visit Isla Coiba … it’s world class. Of course you also have surfing, kayaking, fishing, walking on the beach or just relaxing at your hotel pool. Highly recommend getting out and enjoying one of the many restaurants. I also really like the people, who I find friendly and hard working. Hangout by the beach at sunset and you’ll find locals & tourist playing volleyball or just sitting over a cold beer enjoying the view.

Santa Catalina is quiet surf town.
Santa Catalina is quiet surf town. During the day, most of the restaurants were closed. There are two beaches, the nicer one is Estero beach, which is good place to surf, even for the beginners. You can do snorkling trips, diving, surf or kayaking to the Santa Catalina island, where the beach was great and water clear.

Santa Catalina is an extremely nice surfer town!
Santa Catalina is an extremely nice surfer town! It is definitely one of my favourite spots in Panama in general! It is more remote so if you are a solo traveler I would suggest staying in a social hostel.
The people are friendly and it is a really nice town as a beginning surfer or advanced.
And you should do the coiba tour!!! It is so beautifull, i have no regrets paying a little more for a tour like this.

One of the top places I've been to for scuba diving, I've been there a few times and I've seen whale sharks, bull sharks, white tip sharks, giant oceanic rays, cownose rays, eels, sea turtles, sea horses, frogfish, etc.
Loved eating in Hotel Iguanito, Ai Mamita (in Villa Coco Hotel), and for breakfast: Café Panachocolat and Sugar Mamas.
Not super easy to get around, you basically need a shuttle or car to go through the bumpy road. Once there, it's a bit hilly for the average walker/bike rider. If you stay in the intersection where all the dive centers are located, and you're there to scuba dive, then you're walking distance from everything you need.
Juan and Chris put passion and care into every detail at this hotel. The rooms are comfortable and clean and they personally prepare delicious food and drinks at their restaurant - so much so that it’s often packed with local expats. They know the area very well, offering plenty of advice about excursions and even arranging a snorkeling trip to Coiba for us. It’s at a perfect price point for couples or older travelers in particular. Take advantage of this opportunity, as there aren’t many places left like this!
The hotel is close to the beach and to the main road in Santa Catalina, has good parking slots, a supermarket a fee houses away, and at the corner a good café that opens 6:30 am and served good breakfasts. The apartment was comfortable, had 2 good single beds, a well equipped kitchen and fridge, and a bathroom (toilet was not working properly). Plenty of toilet paper and handy towels for snorkelling days. AC worked well. The hotel features a swimming pool that I did not use. Altogether good for the price.
The family running the hostel is very welcoming and helpful. They keep the space very clean and helped us arrange surfing lessons and a tour to Coiba. They have alot of animals, we liked the talking parrot Lola and the dogs. Location is next to the beach, although the surfing beach is a 15 min walk. We rented a surfboard at the hostel and they were happy to bring us to the surfing beach with the car.
Bonuspoints for the ride they gave us to reach the bus to Sona, as we missed the only bus that morning.
Santa Catalina is not very huge, so everything is next to the hostel - beach, supermarkets, even an ATM.
The cabins are very comfortable, with its own bathroom and sitting area infront of the cabin.
We could book a snorkeling trip to Coiba Island when we checked in. That was very comfortable and easy to handle (just cash). The Wifi quality is very good.
Oasis Surf & Camp is definitely an Oasis. I can't think of a better place to stay in Santa Catalina. The hotel is located right at the beach, all of the rooms have the most amazing views. The rooms are very nice and count with a nice porch to relax. The best thing is how you get to the hotel, be prepared to get your feet wet.
Location is great, easy to walk into town and possible to walk to the beach, although a little long in the heat but doable. Poll is lovely and views of the sunset are beautiful. Staff were helpful and you can book a Coiba trip directly with the hotel and they will pick you up in the morning which is very convenient.
Oasis was my best accomodation in my trip troughout Panama. The staff were very nice, they helped me with late check in. There is posiblity to rent a surfboard and paddleboard and take lessons for reasonable price. I had breakfest and dinner in Oasis restaurant and both meals were delicious.
I would have rated the hotel lower if it wasn’t for the fantastic customer service provided by the manager, Gino. We went during rainy season so we didn’t get what I imagine is a sweet view, but the wrap-around balcony/terrace area outside our room was very nice.
- very nice staff, they help you with everything
- perfect location almost in the middle of Santa Catalina. Its about 10 minutes walk from the next beach. There are 2 supermarktes in Santa Catalina and one of them is right in front of the door of the Hostel.
This is the most upscale property in Santa Catalina. Rooms are like villas, large and comortable. Pool is beautiful with lots of greenery. Food in the restaurant is really good...but not incredible. Air conditioning works well, but power often goes out.
The hotel is located in the center of the village, and close to everything you'd need. The rooms are comfortable, the deck has a really nice seating area and the restaurant below is one of the best in town! Good price value!
One the best hostels i have lived in. Talking about the staff, facilities, Room and Aura, everything was just perfect. Would definitely recommend to all the solo travellers or the group travellers. It’s nearby to the beach
Beautifully clean room and amazing outdoor shower. The restaurant food was delicious and top quality. We borrowed bikes to cycle into Santa Catalina but it is not far. Really lovely place to stay.
Impressive views from the terrace. Very relaxing. Direct access to santa catalina beach (although it's not the best beach in the area).
The shower (shared) had hot water and good pressure.
Its nice hotel, in Santa Catalina, we mainly chose it because it was pet friendly and we booked late. The staff is super friendly and its close to the main activities on town.
Amazing hotel in the prime location in Santa Catalina! Owners were amazing and accommodating. Beds were super comfortable. Bikes, surfboards, and kayaks all included!
The location is perfect. The hotel is just infront of the beach. The staff was lovely and helpful at all times, especially Sofia.
We really enjoyed our stay here.
