My daughter met me in Auckland from California and I came from Texas. Barbara and Stu were so sweet, kind and friendly. The breakfast room has a beautiful rectangle table I wanted to take home with me. The breakfast was amazing! Crispy meaty bacon, tasty sausage and the eggs were perfectly round. Thanks again for everything!

Thames is a quiet town with quite a few coffee shops and a good variety of stores to browse. The supermarket (Pack & Save) was close to where we were staying. There are several locations close to Thames that are worth a visit The Gold mine just north of town Cathedral beach and the hot water beach are worth the time to check out. A scenic drive up to Coramandel town is interesting. Just be careful on the narrow sea side road. Enjoy

Didnt know which cafe to choose, but this one had a lot of people in it, so we chose this one.Hot chocolate cafe. The big breakfast and the pancakes were delicious. Quaint, busy little township, just caught the tail end of the market. We stumbled on another cafe further up, which sold this devine louise cake & caramel wheaty slice. Yummy. I thoroughly enjoyed the Nakontong Thai restaurant for dinner too.

Shared bathroom and toilet wasn't good.
Shared bathroom and toilet wasn't good. Luckily for me there was only one other guest a female but that was awkward as we both wanted to shower at the same time. Lucky for both of us there were not 3 couples staying at the same time.

The Coastal walkway is a good walk. Old town worth a visit.
The Coastal walkway is a good walk. Old town worth a visit. Lots of good places to eat in town and some good shops and cafes. Lots of walks up the Kauaeranga river Valley in the Cormandel Forest Park.
Good base for surrounding areas, we did full circuit of Carmandel from here. Also enjoyed Gold mines tour at Waihi and walks on the Whatawheta river gorge
Chartre Manor was for us an ideal place to stay. We were warmly greeted by Anna-Marie and she went over and above to supply us with breakfast food, snacks, drinks, which we highly appreciated. The location on a hill overlooking the land and the water was great. There were sheep and rabbits in the field, which along with the many birds gave a relaxing atmosphere. The cottage is very quiet and spacious. Thames has several good restaurants. We would definitely stay here again when we visit New Zealand.
Great place to stay while exploring the coromandel. Just a short trip to Thames town and supermarket - yet not in town - lovely outlook across the water and the sunsets were stunning. A modestly price accommodation that we could make our base while doing day trips. Fresh towels each day were greatly appreciated. We stayed in the 2 story unit - which by far had the nicest outlook and deck space to sit in the shade and look out to the views.
We just spent one night at the motel to escape cyclone Gabrielle so we didn’t get to enjoy the pool or other facilities. But we appreciated the super friendly welcome by the staff and the clean and comfortable room. The location is great to explore Thames and the area. The kitchenette has everything needed to prepare breakfast or small meals. Beds were comfortable and felt fairly new.
Stuart and Barbara were wonderful hosts at this quaint B&B perfectly located in an historic hotel building (circa 1860’s) in the heart of Thames. The breakfast spread was awesome, and the common lounge with pool table was a great place to relax before dinner. The outdoor area looked really nice too, if only the weather was fine.
The room was spacious and very clean with fabulous views across the town of Thames to the bay. We certainly enjoyed our "early nightcap" on the balcony waiting for the sunset. Our breakfast tray with fresh fruit, muesli, plunger coffee, toast was great value. Our host was very welcoming and helpful.
Sunset hotel is a diamond in the rough we didn't expect much on Booking but the staff were friendly and helpful and the accommodation was spacious clean and very accomodating right on the beach and would highly recommend to other travelers
This property is very quaint, and the staff was extra helpful as we acclimated to New Zealand. Our unit was well-sized and perfect for our needs. It's the perfect base of operations for exploring the Coromandel.
Carmel, Sig and Mia have a lovely home with fantastic views across Thames. Having dinner on their deck watching the sun set is magical. They made our family very welcome, and our rooms well appointed.
A good central location on the main road into Thames. Just walking distance to the city center.
The owner was very pleasant and welcoming.
Excellent parking at the unit door.
Good aircon.
The elderly couple at the front desk were amazing. They really made our stay a lot of fun. Also the motel had a friendly cat who wanted to hang out so I rate this place really high.
THE APARTMENT WAS LARGER THAN I EXPECTED, WHICH WAS A BONUS.
I LOVED THAT WE HAD SEPARATE BEDROOMS.
TUSCANY ON THAMES HAD A LOVELY WELCOMING FEELING, WOULD DEFINITELY STAY AGAIN :)
Beautifully situated and run by a really nice people! With only 6 beds for backpackers, it's an amazing opportunity to escape mainstream tourism for a while and enjoy the area!
Fabulous cottage, beautifully decorated, very well-equipped, lots of extras in fridge and pantry; excellent location close to coast pathway and township.
