I had used this Hotel in a previous visit and I had loved the wonderful location and I found the room convenient enough even though was very outdated and in desperate need of renovations. It was quaint to a point.
Leiden is worth a visit. Beautiful old town full of life, with barely any tourists!

Breathe was a comfortable and modern hotel. It was really nice to have a refrigerator and other kitchen equipment in our room. Even though the bathroom was small it was was well appointed with nice shampoo and body wash. The manager and other staff were friendly and very willing to help us navigate Leiden and this neighborhood. There were good beds. Breakfast was plentiful, healthy and a little pricey.

Beautiful old city with excellent bus and rail services only...
Beautiful old city with excellent bus and rail services only 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Plenty museums to visit and the oldest university in the Netherlands, Botanical gardens and Rembrandt's home and studio. Canal cruises and cycle hire to explore the outer part of the city. Plenty places to eat. We tended to eat at the restaurant near the hotel. Ideal location to visit both Delft and the Hague from. Would hope to return again. I travelled with 18 members of my family and stayed in the Rembrandt Hotel. Everyone thought Leiden was an excellent location to visit Keukenhof, Delft and the Hague from.

Great town and central to day trips all over the Netherlands...
Great town and central to day trips all over the Netherlands. Much more pleasant than staying in Amsterdam and only a short 20 minute train ride directly to Schiphol Airport. Could not be more convenient and relaxing.

Leiden is a great place to stay.
Leiden is a great place to stay. It’s like staying in a mini Amsterdam without as many people. Lovely canals to walk around and lots of small individual places to eat. Very peaceful to stroll around with a lovely market held on Saturday and Wednesdays. We took one of the walking tours around the town which you can buy at the local tourist information office. Also enjoyed going up the Windmill, but be prepared for a steep climb down. Well worth a visit!

Lovely city to walk in.
Lovely city to walk in.
All the people we met and staff in bars and hotel were helpful and friendly.
Sadly only had time for one visit - to Hortus Botanicus- which was well worth the time.
Would plan to visit again.

Leiden and its surrounding offers you a lot if you like...
Leiden and its surrounding offers you a lot if you like walking in beautiful old cities alongside canals. A windmill that is seemingly so simple can explain Dutch social history but there are many other interesting museums as well, and a very special botanical garden. Public transport is well organised (except on special days) and you can reach gems outside the city like Spinoza house or lakeside restaurant. The sea is not far away either.
This a a comfortably furnished apartment hotel, well located and sitting with a beautiful vista of one of Leiden’s canals. Do not expect reception - check in is via a code to a lockbox. Be aware there is a flight of very steep stairs - lots of reviews state this, so if you’re going to have a whinge about them, it’s not for you. I’m just mentioning it so you’re not surprised. If they don’t worry you, this place is in a perfect peaceful spot. It’s a lovely place to stay.
The hotel, at least if you choose a suite, is very fine. Close to the train station (we arrived by train) and to Amsterdam Airport (just a 16 minute train journey away). You go the opposite way from the train station and in 2 minutes you are in the downtown/old town area, which is full of restaurants, shops and cafes and very beautiful. As for the rooms, the suite type are spacious with beautiful views. Staff is nice.
the bathtub!! very difficult to find the bathtub in the hotel at Leiden.
if you can walk by yourself with your luggage, this hotel locate at the center of Leiden, 5 min walk from the Leiden Central station. 1min walk to the restaurant and 24 hr small supermarket.
the hotel reception close at 21:00 but my arrival was 0:00. they kindly waited for my call to open the door. Thank you!!
Comfortable beds, very good service, excellent breakfast. It is conveniently located …very close to Leiden Centraal (train station), good restaurants at a walking distance. The only thing I was missing was an iron in the room, but I’ve got one from the reception. They also lend me an umbrella …very helpful and nice staff
The hotel is in a great location, its only a couple of minutes walk from the train station and the centre of Leiden, the rooms are very clean and the beds were really comfortable, the rooms were cleaned everyday and towels replaced. The staff were all very friendly. Overall a very pleasant stay
The room was nicer than I expected with excellent city views and a very nice shower. We live near Leiden (which is our favorite city in the Netherlands), but we needed easy access to Schiphol for an early flight and this hotel was more affordable and nicer than many of the airport hotels.
Stayed five days to tour the city. The hotel is perfectly located for a short walk to Centraal station, to restaurants and the park. The rooms were clean and had plenty of space to sit. The two front desk staff were awesome. We are returning in August and will stay again.
The rooms were lovely, clean and spacious, and the building was old and beautiful. The location was fantastic - wonderful street, very central and walkable to cafes, restaurants, the university, and Leiden Centraal. I would absolutely stay here again.
Great location and good value for money. Not the luxorious type of hotel but perfect location and decent accomodation with plenty of restaurants and sightseeing locations within walking distance. Just 6 minutes walking from Leiden Central Station!
Boutique hotel with good amenities in room. Very comfortable bed and pillow.
Carpark was shared with Golden Tulip - it is linked to the back of the hotel.
I enjoy the view of the train station.
Room was spacious, the buffet breakfast area was nice, bike rental option was also great. The bus is very accessible, across the street from the hotel and takes you straight to Leiden Center.
Location, literally next to the train station. Good breakfast and restaurant with an amazing view of Leiden. Very helpful staff. Huge room compared to other hotels. Coffee & tea in the room.
Really nice, clean and quiet hotel in a beautiful street next to a canal. Staff was really friendly and professional. Highly recommend if you are looking for a place to stay in Leiden.
Classic Van der Valk hotel, a bit dated but still nice and tidy with a comfortable bed.
Location is ok, food was fine. Next to a bus stop to Leiden (except when the bus is cancelled).
Amazing monumental property right at the edge of the small city centre of Leiden. I am myself from Leiden originally, and was amazed by this hotel! Lovely staff and easygoing vibes!
