Quaint and charming little town, we stayed for one night but...
Quaint and charming little town, we stayed for one night but actually we didn’t need to. We saw everything we wanted to in one day (on foot) and had dinner there. The nature is peaceful and beautiful and the Fries people living there are all very friendly. The planetarium was cool and the Museum Martena was really cool bcs we it was a little bit interactive.

It's a charming small town with a rich history which remains...
It's a charming small town with a rich history which remains mostly intact. We went for the Eise Eisinga Planetarium which was absolutely worth the trip. We also highly recommend the city museum, Museum Martena, a 'city castle' from 1506 which also has a nice garden, especially in the spring. I would have liked to visit the grand city hall as well, but it was closed that day.
The place is fantastic. The location is next to a little canal, very close to the centre of Franeker, you can enjoy the view when you have your breakfast on the terrace. The bedroom was original, beautiful, big, and very comfortable. I could enjoy a super night and a very relaxing time in the bath. The breakfast was generous. I really recommend you to have dinner there too in the evening. It was delicious and a wonderful moment.
The breakfast was exceptional. Continental style with a remarkably varied choice of bread/sweetbreads, boiled egg, yogurt, cheese, etc. The hotel has a very good cafe/restaurant on the ground floor where we enjoyed a late dinner and lunch the next day. Our family had two rooms which were both spacious, very comfortable, and looked recently renovated.
Tjarda was a great hostess and super helpful.
We loved the Fries vibe and the BnB was amazing. We travel quite a bit- but this was one of the best. Close to bnb is a lovely restaurant. Very reasonable and super staff

We had a great time at 'Stadslogementen Franeker', staying in the lovely house by the water. We enjoyed watching the boats go by from the cozy living room. The place has everything we needed and was very clean and comfortable. Franeker is a charming village and the perfect spot to explore the area. We highly recommend it!
Hotel Grandcafe de Doelen is perfectly situated in this lovely town. The room (no elevator) was in the 1st floor and was exceedingly quiet and comfortable, especially the beds! Also, the on-site restaurant was very good. Finally, the staff was excellent - meeting all patrons with a smile!

Lovely place, the staff very friendly, hotel very accommodating. We also had meals which were very tasty. Breakfast was too. Nice setting and close to the centre. Quiet.
