The breakfast was great. We had a great breakfast table with a view over the river and the ferry in the background. The breakfast was brought to the table. Not the usual breakfast buffet.
The bedroom was great with all kinds of interesting angles, and a top window.
We also loved sitting in the relaxing room with an internal balcony. We have been reading there a book and drinking some tea.

Kasteel Engelenburg is situated on a gorgeous property. The building has been lovingly maintained and is just beautiful. The staff was unfailingly friendly and helpful. I enjoyed all my meals here (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) - everything is elegantly presented and delicious. I wasn't at Engelenburg to play golf, but I could still admire the grounds with a walk around the property. Furthermore, there are bikes for guests (regular bikes are free, e-bikes can be rented for a small fee) and immediate access to bike paths to explore the region. I can't recommend them highly enough!

I was in Dieren for 3 months, 2 of the 3 months I was alone as my husband was working in Asia. Dieren is safe and super easy to get around. I used the train to get to Utrecht and Schipol. I took the bus to get to Doesburg and to Arnhem and I walked to De Steeg. Once my husband arrived we hired a car to gallavant around together.
The whole area is magnificent, safe, gentle and populated by the best kind of people.
We loved going to De Steeg, Middachten Castle, Hoge Veluwe National Park, shopping at Il Fienile, Doesburg, De Waag, Hof te Dieren for walks and to the vineyard Domein Hof te Dieren for some organic wine tasting, we ate at too many great places to mention and walked the entire area flat. We shopped, we thrifted, we browsed - the list of things to do for young and old is impressive.
Dieren is in the heart of a magnificent corner in the Netherlands. Paradise for cyclists, walkers, hikers, dog lovers and anyone who has the opportunity to get there.
I will be back. I left a big part of my heart in the Gelderland.

While there's not much of interest in Dieren, it is only one short train stop (or 20 minute drive) away from Zutphen, a lovely walled city with a bustling Market, cobbled streets, classy shops and cafés and riverside waterfront.

A small and cosy village surrounded by a forest.
A small and cosy village surrounded by a forest. A good place for a week end if you look to escape after a tough working week. There is a mountain bike route if you would like to explore the Veluwezoom National Park. I really recommend to visit it and you will get back on track completely regenerated.
Very clean, well appointed and some lovely decorative touches. Everything has been very well considered. Friendly hosts and the accommodation is extremely peaceful and very well located (1 minute walk to the train station, with regular intercity trains; we were able to visit Nijmegen, Arnhem and Utrecht during our short stay). Also we located for some great walking in the nearby national park. Dieren has plenty of supermarkets and places to eat out. We hope to come back.
The apartment is huge. The location is 5 minutes on foot from Dieren station, from where one can reach large parts of the Netherlands within one to two hours. The old part of Dieren is a really nice small village. The apartment is a few minutes walk from the beautiful IJssel river and of course in the middle of one of the most beautiful parts of the Netherlands.
Very nice location in the beautiful old part of Dieren. Great location to explore nice places from like Zutphen, Bronkhorst, Doesburg, Nationaal park de Veluweoom. Constans is a great host, welcoming us warmly and introducing us to many of his nice friends. Definitely worth a return in the summer as this part of the country is also great for biking
the property is a nice house in a row with a spectacular view from a dyke over an unspoiled Dutch river landscape. Dieren is a very nice authentic village as well. Railway station 9 minutes on foot.
The hotel is located in an old house, very well renovated. The decor is classy and everything looks very pretty and upscale. It is clean and even smells so good!
The staff is friendly and helpful.
