I came to Tivat for a family meeting and knew nothing about it.
Tivat. Well, if you want to see the Rich And Famous, this is your kind of place. The marina is filled with oligarch's yachts and there is, for example, a Rolex factory store. I got chased off a terrace by some belligerent hotel staff for 'sitting in the wrong place'! Haha! Whatever.
However, it's entirely possible to get VERY nice lodging for not terribly expensive, 20-30-Euros/night, in the older Tito-era Bloks. There are local bars with 3-Euro beers on tap. There are grocery stores and bakeries like anywhere else. Also, Tivat is surrounded by ancient monasteries, churches; bus service to other locales like Kotor is easy.
So it doesn't have to be Monaco banging Rodeo Drive and it wasn't like that for me.

Tivat is better seen than told!
Tivat is better seen than told! This goes for the whole Montenegro! Tivat bay is the playground for billionaires' yachts and boats. The air is clean. And there's beauty in nature all around. Only problem we had was people smoking inside the restaurants, bars virtually public indoor places. Visit La Tua Casa up the street from the port for the best fresh mixed meat grill and bolognese. Getting around is easy, easy to walk but also Taxi are readily available. Always use the branded taxi and make sure meter starts at 1

Montenegro has incredible swimming spots.
Montenegro has incredible swimming spots. You have the choice of swimming in Boka Bay surrounded by the mountains, or take a short drive to Lustica and swim in the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic Sea. A truly spectacular place to explore!

Stay was for 4 nights and there is plenty to do in that time...
Stay was for 4 nights and there is plenty to do in that time (boat trips, etc which weren't expensive) along with wandering around the marina. An abundance of restaurants, cafe's and bars too. Local transport (we used taxi's and buses) and these were easy to navigate and cheap. Locals were helpful in explaining which services to use. Budva was a 4 euro bus ride (one way & about 1/2 hour from Tivat) for the day for a less rocky beach.
All the beaches we found in Tivat, close by to the hotel, were of rocks or concrete. We found a municipal beach (although I don't think any are 'private') to sunbathe on but bought the sun loungers/parasol combo for the day from a local hotel, which was approx. 30 euros for the day. You could order drinks, which they brought to us but not food.
It was a great base for us to explore from and I should do more research when trying somewhere new to make the most of my experience! Would probably stay somewhere different next time but it was very scenic and useful for any boat trips you might want to do.
I travelled with my 15 year old son, who is also a foodie, so he enjoyed the restaurants around us. Some were cheaper than others :-)

The town is well laid out with good water frontage.
The town is well laid out with good water frontage. Good range of Shops. Excellent day trips on boats at very reasonable prices. We paid 15€ each for 9hr trip. Some restaurants did not live up to high prices charged.
At first, the very warm welcoming from Daliborka. We arrived 2h later than we said but we let them know and they were waiting for us and were apologizing because they were finishing the cleaning of the apartment. But we were the one who arrived a bit early. They helped us out with all my questions and even called a taxi for us on the morning we had to leave. Apartment was really nice, comfy and clean with the big balcony which had the view to porto montenegro. It was a quiet neighborhood and house. Definitely reccomending staying there.
Amazing views and sincere hospitality.
The host was available at all times and very approachable. The spacious suite is exquisitely clean and its interior features with eclectic details bring out the feeling of true Mediterranean charm.
Property is also very near the Porto Montenegro marina so I didn't even have to drive to my morning meetings there. I loved it and 10/10 would recommend.
I, definitely, will book another stay as soon as I have my next business trip to Montenegro's coast.
Ivan is very polite and friendly host. Communication with him was very easy. He was very helpful explaining the environment of the apartment (close bakery, beach, parking etc..) Apartment is well equipped. There are two bedrooms and apartment fits up to 5 people easily. Kitchen is well appointed as well as bathroom. Location is good as well. It takes up to 3-4 minutes of driving to get to Porto Montenegro in downtown Tivat. Highly recommended!
Gioia Villa probably is one of the best option in Tivat for group of people (5-8 persons).
The villa has two floors, private swimming pool, terrace at both floors. Also, full equipped kitchen and washing machine for clothes.
The villa has very good location (about 15-20 minutes) from porto Montenegro and has wonderful sea view.
The villa is super clean.
Special thanks for owners kindness, support and advices.
Convenience of pool and small beach on property, a nice plus with small children. Nice walking distance to market and porto montenegro. Comfortable bed, clean pool, lounge chairs and umbrellas. Quiet area, away from crowds. Airplanes taking off overhead were something my children (and i) really enjoyed. Great host, friendly employees. Nice getaway our family needed!
The hotel has an amazing view! It's great to watch the sunset while having your drink at the terrace bar.
The room and common areas of the hotel are very clean and the hotel staff are very friendly.
You can easily get to Porto Montenegro, Tivat or Kotor Old Town in about 8-10 minutes from the hotel.
Highly recommended!
I will definitely come again.
This property really has brought Montenegro for me to a different level. The hotel is new, therefore everything is fresh and stylish, clean, light, and open: love the design and top-notch facilities! I have found everything I wanted on my short vacation. Kotor is very close, so I had time to explore the places around me. LOVE THE VIEWWWWS!
Fantastic location just steps away from the stunning marina of Porto Montenegro with the designer shopping and fine dining.
I was upgraded to a larger room with heated tiles on the bathroom which I loved!
The staff were very friendly and helpful. I wish to highly recommend the Hotel Montenegrino! 10 out of 10.
I like this property so much. It faces the sea with stunning view. Short walking to centre Tivat and porto Montenegro. New property decorated with marble floor. Well equipped Kitchen and laundry. Owner is so nice and kind. Highly recommend and wish to come back again.
Excellent property, has everything needed. You can ask the host to do your travel tax, which is also very convenient. The location is the best: several beaches, very close to Porto Montenegro and even to the city centre. Tivat is super small, don’t trust the map.
The location is excellent. If most of your activities are in Porto Montenegro, it’s very walkable or a quick ride there. Getting taxis was a little difficult, but we managed. If you visit in the summer, prepare for it to be boiling hot outside though.
Everything was great. The apartment was very clean (the cleanest apartment in my life) and cozy. And if you have a car - you can ask for a garage key. The location is great, because there are City Market, Porto Montenegro and Main Street nearby.
Our entire stay was phenomenal and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area. The staff were lovely, the rooms were splendid, and the breakfast was out of this world. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip in Montenegro!
Apartments were in great location, short walk to the beach, local supermarket and to “Porto Montenegro” were nice restaurants and bars are. Also only 30ish min drive by bus to Kotor Bay. Hosts offered a free transfer to and from airport
Hotel Palma has the best private beach in Tivat as far as I can tell. It is located only about 300 meters from the center and quite cheap compared to other high end hotels in Kotor bay.
The hosts were very willing to help with whatever was asked. We especially liked the large balcony. The location is just across the street from the modern Porto Montenegro.
Rooms were big. Bathroom also big and comfortable. Location is so close to both Porto Montenegro and Balena Beach. Room was clean and kitchen facilities were good enough
The only positive thing about this “hotel” was the location. Which was also not perfect but decent since you can walk to porto montenegro for about 20 minutes.
