Our group consolidated here after a hike up Toubkal. We were the only guests. Convenient location to check out shops and restaurants, etc. Parking options across the road. Breakfast was outstanding. Staff was courteous. Unfortunately, no staff could be found once we realized our cold water valve in the shower wasn’t functioning. Not possible to shower with only the very hot water. 5 of us waited to cycle through one shower in another guest room. Not how we envisioned it after 12+ hours of hiking. But, we made it work.

Best place to plan to climb Jebel Toubkal (4160 m) – Morocco’s and North Africa’s highest mountain. Not only Toubkal but many other day trips and hikes can take place from Imlil including visiting Berber villages, with guides who can be hired locally with many different types of trips to meet your needs, horse, donkey or bicycle its all on offer. Note no local ATM machines so take enough cash or be prepared for a short trip to Ansi. Wherever you travel the views are inspiring.

excellent hideaway from the heat of Marrakesh.
excellent hideaway from the heat of Marrakesh.
Zarathustra restaurant cooked us a fantastic dinner, for the right price. We has a look to their rooms, and other that there was no air-con at the time, the style, price and size were very nice. Some of the rooms had shared bathroom.
We did not find good restaurants in Imlil other than the above, though we did not check other hotels and riads. there are some local restaurants that were ok, very local....

Even if you aren’t planning to hike Toubkal, I would 100% suggest Imlil for a quiet weekend to get away from the bustle and bustle of Marrakech. In my two trips to Morocco, I’ve visited Imlil three times, once for a day, once for several days on my second trip just to relax with no plans of hiking Toubkal, and then I returned with friends to hike Toubkal.
My experience with the people of Imlil is that they are genuinely welcoming and kindhearted, not just pretending to be because you’re a tourist with money, as I’ve experienced in other cities. The prices of things are also typically better than in Marrakech overall, although they are still geared towards tourists.
Despite being a few different settlements, Imlil is a small village where everyone knows each other and is happy to help you find what you’re looking for. There are plenty of guides for a day hike or for hiking Toubkal, and whatever lodging you stay at can usually help you find someone to guide you.
Overall, Imlil is my favorite place in Morocco, and coming here feels like returning home.
Great! If you look for a real traditional berber family to host you, this is the place to be. The host is very nice, the house is clean and warm, she provided a lot of blankets. She served mint tea all the time and the tadjin we had for lunch was very good, real berber traditional. Also breakfast was good, usual morrocan.
View from the terrace was splendind, and sun is shining on the terrace.
It is indeed a little remote, it is either a long walk from Imlil, or go by car, but it's worth to go avay from tourist spots.
This was one of the most amazing stays in my whole Morocco trip! The lodge is in an amazing location, close to the start of the hiking trail. The atmosphere in the lodge is welcoming, it is clean and cozy. But the most important I would like to say thank you to Hassan, he made my stay very comfortable, feeling like at home! I think he is doing an amazing job and it really feels he is doing this from his heart. I highly recommend this lodge for short or long stay. I wish I could stay longer here!
Could not have been better. We loved the experience of living in a little berber village with all the comforts laid on and within walking distance to the centre of Imlil. Spectacular views overlooking a glorious mountain from our private balcony, a wonderful place to sit and soak up the atmosphere. Breakfasts were home-cooked and delicious and home-cooked moroccan dinners were available. Said was a wonderful host, and made our stay there quite a memorable experience.
The riad is in a perfect location with wonderful views of Imlil valley and Toubkal. It is a family run business, Rachid and Ibrahim and family go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible, nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast is good and plentiful. We ate dinner twice at the riad and it was some of the best food we had in Morocco. You will certainly not be hungry! The terrace area is very pleasant to sit in the sun and drink some mint tea
Everything! Said, the manager was extremely friendly and helpful. He even arranged for the hammam for us upon our return from the Mount Toubkal hike. The food was delicious, the room was spacious with a nice view and the bathroom had a large bathtub--our first in Morocco. The Village du Toubkal sits a bit above Imlil but there is a road to access it in case you're driving. It's a 20 minute walk down a pretty valley through to the village of Imlil.
Beautiful quiet village location in Imlil. Picturesque walks direct from the hotel. The outdoor terraces with Mountain views are especially nice. Breakfast was served on the lower one and was delicious, We didn’t use the pool as it wasn’t warm enough when we were there as the location is already quite high in the mountains, but it looked lovely - perfect for summer. Rooms were comfortable, and the owner is very helpful. We would stay again.
The lodge is located in a small village in the Imlil valley. It has multiple terraces which have a beautiful view of the mountains. The carpets and seating pillows create a cosy atmosphere. We absolutely loved the breakfast and dinners and the staff is super friendly and welcoming. We also booked a mountain tour to Toubkal through Mohamed and he was very helpful with the planning and took us to Imlil center by car to meet our guide.
Dar Amadine is run by a lovely family that is always there to help you. The father is a tour guide and knows every small corner of the Atlas Mountains and also of Morocco in general.
We got sick and that gave us a very hard time although the family was there, looked after us, and even went to the pharmecy to get medication for us. It was an amazing experience and we are greatly thankful for them.
Riad Dar Omar in Imlil, managed by the hospitable Omar, provides impeccable cleanliness and exceptional hospitality, with a friendly and attentive staff who go above and beyond to ensure a perfect stay. I highly recommend this riad for its outstanding service, welcoming atmosphere, and the genuine care of its proprietor, Omar.
First things first, the view is breathtaking. Secondly the authenticity is unparalleled. We loved the whole stay, authentic dinner, wonderful breakfast, a rooster waking us up early in the morning. It was truly fantastic. Additionally the path to Imlil is through a mountain trail walked by the locals, so that's a big bonus
I can't talk about location as we were brought here after a hike and picked up the next day, but we really enjoyed our stay as the hotel has a wonderful view from the side of the valley all the way over Imlil. My friend and I had a double room each and both had balconies. The staff were helpful. Great value for money.
My husband and I started our trip at the Riad, which made us jaded for the rest of our time in Morocco. The food was exceptional and by far the best we ate. The views are just spectacular. Rashid, Brahim, Haddija, Bouchra ... the whole family goes above and beyond. I can't recommend this place enough.
Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, they went above and beyond for us numerous times during our stay! The lodge itself was also great - nice location, warm showers, good wifi, great breakfast, clean and comfortable. The best place I have stayed in my 4 weeks in Morocco!
Dar Imlil is perfectly located with the most beautiful view. The staff is very polite and helpful, especially Lahcen, who warmly welcomed us and showed us around. He made sure our stay went perfectly.
The hotel has beautiful areas for instagramable moments.
A superb view of the Imlil valley and Mzik pass. The riad is located in a quiet village between walnut and cherry orchards. The trail to Tamatert pass starts right near the place. The room was comfortable, the food was great.
Imlil is an awesome place to stay. Very tidy and clean rooms. Incredibly friendly and welcoming staff. The dinner Harira and Tajine have been fabulous. We loved this hotel with its unique location.
Abdou is really friendly and helpful. He can help you with all your plans around Morocco. Atlas Haven is a beautiful hotel with a great view on the Atlas mountains.
You can't close the curtains all the way for privacy. Loud doors, just like in many other places in morocco. Some exposed wiring. Otherwise, superb for the money.
