This is the first time we are visiting Srilanka and this was the first hotel we booked for accomodation in this trip.To our surprise the hotel was really fantastic with swimming pool,dining area,situated in the accessible location and surrounding.We were given excellent hospitality by the hotel staffs.They were friendly and helped us by arranging tuk tuk.They provided us tasty breakfast and I highly recommend this hotel 👍👍👍

Located in middle of paddy field, everywhere is green color. Room was absolutely perfect & good value for the money. Hotel owner helped us go to see the ancient places, its just 10min away. hotel organized a wild safari & cycling tour for us prices are very reasonable, Owner is always available to help us. they prepared rice & curry for us, they took lot of vegetables & Fruits from they own garden. they have papaya, Lime, Banana, Mango & and many more fruits so they give us fresh fruit juices from their garden, everything is organic. thank you very much! we will come again.

Ruins is one of the best experiences I have ever had. The staff is very nice. The food, the rooms are amazing. I invite all local and foreign people to come here and have fun. Located outside the city, it is a quiet and pleasant place to stay. In all respects, Ruins is a beautiful hotel located in Polonnaruwa. I am thankful to all the employees including the management for helping to make my holiday beautiful.

The site seeing of historical places were the best.
The site seeing of historical places were the best. Most of the time we ate at the hotel and visited some locals and shared a meal with them. We hired a vehicle during the tour, This gave us the flexibility to get around. Net time I'll try to get there in the cooler months, mid December.

Lot of ancient locations and relics.
Lot of ancient locations and relics. Can gain much information about historical Polonnaruwa era of Sri Lanka. Spread is in close vicinity and can cover all areas even without a travel guide. My favourite places were Parakrama Samudraya, museum, King Parakramabahu's castle and office, Gal Viharaya, Thiwanka Pilima geya, Vatadage, Hetadage and Sathmahal Prasadaya.
There are places to eat in Polonnaruwa new town (Very close by). We dined at NS Tomatoes where the service was good.

It's worth making the effort to see the far northern and far...
It's worth making the effort to see the far northern and far southern area too.... and don't forget to check out the back roads in the quadrangle group. The site is full of tourists, but almost nobody at the above mentioned places.

Polonnaruwa has impressive archeological and historic areas...
Polonnaruwa has impressive archeological and historic areas which are in good conditions despite of the years. The Minneriya National Park, the Dambulla cave temple and the Sigiriya Rock are also near and it makes Polonnaruwa a perfect base to visit all of them. We would strongly recommend to others.

We stayed about 14km outside polonnaruwa on lake giritale. We got a tuk tuk into town (1500 rupees) and hired bikes for the day (1000 rupees each). We found a cycle route online and followed that, which took us to all the main sites. It was hot but we had a great time. Stop for a drink at the EKO hotel on the lake- a great spot!
We had a very nice stay here. We appreciate the helpfulness of the hosts who arranged bikes for us and found three for our children. They gave good advice about visiting Polonnaruwa and were friendly and helpful. They helped us arrange transportation to our next stop. The rooms were comfortable and clean and we had everything we needed. Having AC and a fan was nice. We enjoyed the breakfast and ordered dinner one night which was very tasty. There were lots of plants and ponds on the property which made a beautiful setting.
This compact and simple family-run hotel is situated about 4km from Polonnaruwa town and archaeological site. It has a calm location, well away from the main road, a verdant garden, a well-maintained swimming pool, kind staff and decent food. There is a variety of accommodation, ranging from small bungalows to cheaper and more spartan rooms in the main building. The hotel does not have bikes for guests, but tuk-tuks are easy to arrange. Good value at this price point.
I stayed at the resort for one night. It was an enjoyable experience. The staff was pleasant, and the service was excellent. The resort was nicely decorated. Hotel facilities were convenient. A secure environment to stay and dine. The food was excellent. The resort is close to Galviharaya, Parakrama Samudraya, Polonnaruwa National Museum, and the Wax Museum therefore overall an excellent location to stay.
Beautiful, clean, spacious room. There are two very nice new buildings with two units each. The garden is lovely and we sat on the balcony and watched the birds. Breakfast was exceptional and plentiful & dinner was the best that we had in Sri Lanka, everything was fresh and flavorful. Kithmi is away from the main road so it is quiet and peaceful. I highly recommend Kithmi Resort, it is a true gem.
The location at the lake is really great. Beautiful calm place surrounded by the lake. Sometimes could be the elephants watched there, this time we had no luck. The staff is friendly and helpful, finally as ewerywhere on Sri Lanka. The rooms are simply equipped, but it met our expectation - it was our second visit there. You have all you need there, the kitchen is also good and tasty.
Very nice location by the lake. beautiful sunset and nature you can see from your room window. Hotel is doing some maintenance and repair works as it was closed due to pandemic. Generally with available facilities still you can spend your holiday. Walking distance to ancient city of Polonnaruwa. Staff is very friendly and specially Mr. Sarath was very supportive throughout our stay.
A great place! Host Amal is a great guy. Very communicative, friendly, helpful. His son Dilshara was also a great help to us; he cycled with us to show us a beautiful way to the Polonnaruwa Ancient City Museum. Be sure to have Auntie prepare you a meal, because that was the best home cooked diner we had during our stay in Sri Lanka.
Nice staff. calm and the food is awesome and they seem like home cooked. Soo tasty. Family owned hotel and they are really nice to their guests and flexible too..we had a really good time in the pool it was way more than enough for us to relax. Finally got a big value for our money. Definitely come again to this lovely place.
Suri was the warmest and kindest woman I’ve met in Sri Lanka who cooked us a delicious dinner and made us feel so welcome. I will miss her! The rooms are nice and clean, it’s in a good location close to Polunanaruwa and the bus station. Kalum’s safari was good and we had a great stay with his family here.
it’s so peaceful and beautiful, there’s a swimming pool you can chill (beach towels are provided), restaurant - you should try a giant prawn from the lake!

Sigiriya & Pidurangala rocks are just 1 hour drive from the hotel. Polonnaruwa is just 10 min max.
Everything was perfect and exceptional. Food, hospitality, cleanliness , facilities, view from the room, garden were exceptional.Though this hotel has 4star in rating all the 5 star facilities were there. Bed was very comfortable. I would like to stay there again soon.
The hotel is on very beautiful location, surrounded by the lake. The view is spectacular. An ideal spot for bird watching. Sunrise and sunset can be admired.

The hotel is very small, as I understand it, no more than 6 rooms. so you are guaranteed to be calm. The museum where you can buy a ticket to the historical part of the city is 2 minutes on foot.
Air conditioned rooms with a very attractive location. Very friendly service and very delicious food. I think this is the best place to stay when visiting Sri Lanka.
