It is a city of scamsters and touters. I have not seen a single city in the world except Kolkata where almost all cab and taxi services (including ola, uber and bikes etc) ask the customer for more money than what is shown in the app and threaten to cancel the ride otherwise. The worker class and labour class is fully corrupt

Kolkata is indeed the city of joy.
Kolkata is indeed the city of joy. Walking through the street of Kolkata means, walking through history, culture and heritage. One or two days are nothing for Kolkata. To know Kolkata, to see Kolkata you need at least a month to get the best essence of the trip. Old part of the city as well as modern part of the city has so many beautiful things to offer for a tourist. I think Kolkata is the best place to enrich ones knowledge of arts, music, literature and what not?

This was my first time visiting Kolkata.
This was my first time visiting Kolkata. I had heard that it was very congested, old, run down and dirty. I found it to be the same as most of the other big cities in India. Liked the history. However the old Kolkata could do with an uplift. To preserve some of the old buildings they need to be refurbished.
The Astor is a lovely heritage hotel in a quieter part of Kolkata, than say, New Market, but is still only a 10-minute walk to central Park Street. There are some goods shops and restaurants around.
The buffet breakfast and eggs cooked to order were very good, as was the food in the dining room. The ambience of the dining room is beautiful olde world charm.
The Staff were polite and helpful, and enabled us to have an early check-in, so we had a drink in the dining room, whilst the room was being made up.
This was our second stay at the property. My mother has mobility issues so she finds this place greatly convenient as the rooms are on the ground floor and she loves being able to walk around the lovely garden space. The cafe has some of the best Indian breakfast in town! Ivy is more like home than hotel - don't expect everything to be on the dot but the staff will go out of the way to accommodate any requests and that's what keeps us coming back!
We were greeted with wreaths of flowers and a welcome gift awaited us in our room. The suite was very large and clean.
After everything we had experienced in other cities in India, this hotel is a luxurious oasis of well-being. We had a good laugh when we even found a second toilet after an hour. That's how big the suite was! I highly recommend the hotel and will definitely book this hotel again when I come back to Kolkata.
"The hotel is located in a prime location, close to the airport and major attractions in Kolkata. The hotel is easily accessible from the railway station and bus terminals. The hotel offers well-furnished rooms with comfortable beds and basic amenities. The rooms are spacious, clean, and equipped with modern amenities like air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi. The staff ensures that they are well-maintained.
It is officially THE CLEANEST hotel I have ever lived in India! And I really mean it! They sanitate room after every single guest with some disinfection liquids, wash the floor and clean the bathroom utilities. It was a blessing! Breakfast is delivered to the room, you can choose from variety of options - all of them were tasty.
The personnel is also very helpful! I 100% recommend this hotel for stay in Kolkata!
Breakfast was the best, even (slightly) better than the outstanding breakfast at The Imperial in Delhi. The building was beautiful, a museum of colonial India. The swimming pool areas is an oasis, fully enclosed by the hotel building which mitigates most of the noise of the city. We enjoyed the art and the culture housed at the Oberoi and the outstanding performance of its employees.
The location and the staff is the best part of staying here. The day manager- Vimal ji and his help- Khan are incredibly sweet and helpful.
As for the location, nothing beats the convenience of staying in a central and chic place like Park Street- you're minutes away from almost every tourist attraction plus right in the middle of Kolkata's most posh and amazing restaurants.
It was a wonderful experience staying with Hotel Aspiring Inn. I must say one of the best Hotel in Kolkata i have ever visited. Rooms were so neat and clean. Staffs were very helpful... Reception guys were excellent in response... Food was very delicious... Lots of entertainment... Atmosphere was peaceful... Enjoyed my stay... Would love to visit again.
Excellent experience we had while staying at Pride Plaza Kolkata. The hotel is excellent with all the facilities. Rooms are quite spacious with all the amenities placed in the room. Food is good . All the staffs are excellent and Ms. Arpita helped us to get a room with good view. We will definitely come back to stay here again.
I liked the staff's behavior. Everyone was polite. Room was clean. Breakfast was good with a decent place for sitting. The hotel is located in vicinity of Park Street which makes it easier to walk and enjoy various restaurants. Also, it is close to famous old heritage buildings of Kolkata. So, one can go there in evenings.
This is a hotel I come back again and again. The breakfast is really awesome. Best in the town. The location, the helpfulness of the staff is amazing. They come to every guest's table to ask if everything is ok and if we like anything special. When I think of visiting Kolkata, I get excited because of Oberoi.
Super downtown hotel in kolkata. Near to rabindra sadan metro station. Close to park Street. It has clean and comfortable rooms.A good affordable price and helpful and kind staff. It is next to a small pond with ducks and green trees , nice scenic spot right in the business district of Kolkata.
I decided to extend my stay here because I feel that I’m not staying in the hotel I feel I’m home. Very comfortable , safety and the staff are very accommodating and kind. The care for their Guest and the cleanliness is top notch . This is highly recommended hotel apartment in Kolkata.
In Kolkata pure vegetarian hotels are very limited and I would say this is the best one. The food is very tasty, and they helped us serve breakfast and food with no onion and no garlic. Their Banquet Hall is quite decent and the food there was awesome, staff were all very kind.
Stay Inn International exceeded our expectations - BIG time. We booked it as a "stopover hotel" on our way to Kolkata but the experience left us in complete awe of this beautiful boutique property. It is very competitively priced for a services it has to offer.
Only the best part of hotel is its location. It is located in the center of Kolkata. Howrah railways station, victory memorials, Indian museum, park street all places is nearby. One can get food till 1am night.
Namaste
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The hospitality was exceptional and the ambiance of the property was delightful.
I particularly enjoyed the Kolkata delights that they offered complimentary.
The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Kolkata
