Located on the outskirts of Thurles town, Anner Hotel and its leisure center is a pleasant base with friendly staff, fine food and plenty of comforts.

This is not a heavily touristed area, so the hotel was not up to the standards of one of the more patronised destinations. On the other hand, it was more authentic than many of the big chain hotels. The main restaurant only opens two nights a week, which is not out of line with quieter areas of the country. The bar restaurant was quite adequate, however, and the food and wine pleasant. Rooms clean and well serviced. Excellent en suite shower facilities, recently upgraded. Quite a pleasant place.
In the center of Thurles town, the 18th-century Hayes Hotel offers an on-site restaurant and coffee bar, as well as a nightclub on weekends, with live music and entertainment.
Hawthorn View Bed and Breakfast offers accommodations in Thurles, 12 miles from Rock of Cashel and 30 miles from Kilkenny Castle.

The owners were extremely hospitable and went out of their way to make sure my brother and I were comfortable. I would recommend Hawthorne to anybody looking for a comfy B&B on their way to the south or west of Ireland

Friendly, helpful hosts, comfortable rooms, economical, but best thing was the location. Literally right under the Rock of Cashel and next to Hore Abby, both places we wanted to visit. And close to town for restaurants, etc.
Just 1.1 miles from Rock of Cashel and a 12-minute walk from Brú Ború Heritage Centre, copperfield house features accommodations in Cashel, with a garden.

Our Hosts Josephine was Incredible. We are traveling with my parents that in their eighties. We traveled from the USA all night. We arrived at her B and B around 0930. Josephine not only let us check into our rooms She made us a wonderful Irish Breakfast. Her kindness and hospitality is what makes me Love Ireland. People like Josephine is why I have travelled to Ireland 4 times. The location of her B and B was in the Great little walkable town of Cashel .
Very clean and quiet and plenty of space to park. Helpful, friendly host. Location easy to find from main route and only a few minutes to town of Thurles. Ate at a lovely pub and used the ATM in town. Easy to park and walk around town. Host even let us play her piano.

Unfortunately you have to travel a lot to find places of interest. Sorry but places advertised as open like the Fairy Fort farm are not open to families anymore, only guests staying in accommodation. Holy Cross maybe of more interest to holy people only. Was expecting more historical interest, TBH. Forgettable place.
Only highlight was Rock of Cashel, that I do recommend.

Thurles is not a tourist destination; it is an older Irish agricultural town. I was there tracing my roots. Nearby Kilkenney would be a better destination for accommodations, dining and attractions.

We chose to stay in Thurles to avoid some of the pricier options in the more tourist-friendly Kilkenny. The Hayes is beautiful and conveniently centered in the town square, with a nice private car lot behind the building. The receptionist was friendly and well-prepared for our arrival, and our rooms were clean and comfortable. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable, and the bathroom was large with great amenities. The full Irish breakfast was excellent and featured fresh-baked pastries.
Very friendly hostess and helpful with suggestions on where to eat , which pub to visit and where to go. Flowers were beautiful and the rooms were very clean. She even helped us in weighing our bags before we left by supplying a scale! House is set out of town so quieter with a very short drive to the motorway and Thurles is the other direction, also close. A good sleep followed by a good breakfast!
It was like going back in time to visits to Ireland in my childhood. Staff were so welcoming, warm and friendly. Decor is old style but only added to charm and welcome. Very comfortable bed and breakfast was amazing. I stayed with daughter and granddaughter and we were given adjoining rooms that opened into each other. Staff accommodated granddaughter’s allergies which was an extra bonus.
The Anner Hotel is a quaint country hotel. I would love to return in winter with the fires burning and the candles lit. Just the place to sit back and enjoy a brandy and port. The waiters routine at the wedding top table was impressive to say the least. It certainly turned heads. The food was excellent . Breakfast had waiter service .Such a rarity except in top class hotels.
Hawthorne View was the perfect stop for us on a busy travel/family visiting day between Thurles and Holy Cross and the Rock of Cashel. Our room was clean and very comfortable. Noreen prepared a beautiful breakfast which was much appreciated. Our mistake for her booking info clearly states it, but we missed that payment is in cash only. Luckily a shop w/an ATM not far away.
Lovely welcome to the property by Maureen . The property is spotlessly clean and bright with a lovely garden , only a few minutes drive from Thurles.
The breakfast was very tasty and plentiful and the room very clean with en-suite and TV. Overall, we were very happy with the accommodation and will return when next in that neck of the woods.
A lovely country house feel to this B&B yet it had all the modern conveniences needed for a short stay. Very quiet even though it was on quite a busy street. Was welcomed and well looked after throughout my stay. I will certainly stay here again if travelling to Thurles. I would recommend.
Great location in town. Old hotel with character, like uneven floors...helpful desk staff, generous breakfasts, comfortable modern mattress.
Also restaraunt was satisfactory for dinner or lunch. Tourist literature (local maps) available.
Was a great stay all around.
The owners were extremely hospitable and went out of their way to make sure my brother and I were comfortable. I would recommend Hawthorne to anybody looking for a comfy B&B on their way to the south or west of Ireland
lovely little gem of a hotel. historic and well located right in town. rooms were fresh and beautifully decorated. the food was excellent, really lovely welcoming staff. the beds were super comfortable.
Having breakfast included was a bonus. Rooms were spacious-for Ireland- and clean. Easy access to town and quiet- there was a wedding on but we weren’t disturbed by any noise. Great staff.
Quiet room and location, good wifi, clean room with electric shower. Breakfast was very good and modified to what I needed. Close distance to Thurles town just 5 minutes by car.
we stayed only for one night at the Anner Hotel. The dinner at their Bistro was convenient and good. Staff at the reception and at the pool were super friendly.
Hotel is beautiful, staff were amazing. Bed and pillows were the best iv ever slept in. Apart from one, the rest of the staff in the bar were brilliant
