The bed was comfortable and the lady at reception took money off as breakfast was being served after I had to check out.
With elegant décor, the rooms at the Talbot Hotel Carlow have private bathrooms with deluxe toiletries and fluffy towels. Rooms also feature TVs, free Wi-Fi and a 24-hour room service menu.

Beautiful hotel right on the water. A sunny Saturday afternoon it’s very busy so we were lucky to find parking close by. The restaurant and staff was amazing! Food great and beds comfortable! Beautiful hikes in the area!!

The house was very confortable and the hosts kind and helpful. We stayed there on a longer trip but we didn't visit Athy except for St Michael's Church in Barrowhouse (less than a km from the house). From there we went to the Wicklow Mountains and Glendalough in less than an hour, that's why we chose Athy for a night's sleep on our way. Our hosts made us wish to stay longer and get acquainted with them and their ponies, something our children would have gladly done.

Athy seems to be suffering from the amount of traffic flow through the high street...possible cause of the dereliction?
A lot of shops and houses boarded up which did not make the town feel very safe although it did make an interesting photo opportunity
More traffic on the canal would help reduce the smell as using the locks would move the water
When the new by pass opens it should help remove the large number of lorries

Athy is a small township about an hour south of Dublin in farm country. I was on my way to Kilkenny and took the 2 lane road so I could see more of the country side and the other small townships on the way. The drive was beautiful rather than taking the motorway.

We didn't spend long in Athy on this visit, but we have been there on many other occasions. I enjoy walking along by the water and the markets in the square. If I was on my own I would probably spend some time in the local shops and charity shops but I wouldn't inflict that on my husband as he would be bored. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay as we were meeting up with local friends. Athy is a lovely small town that you could easily walk around. People are generally friendly. It is fairly easy to find your way around it.
Mary and Raymond were the kindest people we've met so far during our Ireland trip. Check-in went smoothly, the room was clean with comfortable heated beds. Bathroom had towels, shampoo and shower gel and overall very pleasent experience.
We had an irish breakfast with tea and coffee, which was delicious. If I ever visited Ireland again, I would definitelly stay at the Moate Lodge. Raymond also gave us a lot of tips and info about interesting locations near there.
We recommend the Lodge 10/10!
Very nice and clean room. A little cold when I got in there, but warmed up. The establishment overall is very good Staff great and food was a good range from cheap to proper steaks and was busy. Th only downside is that is is on the main street and so the room is not quiet. There is nothing they can do about that, but if you are a light sleeper, take some earplugs. As a place to stay for a single night in Navan, you can't better it .
We vacationed in Ireland for 10 days, and of all the b & b's we stayed at, this was our favorite. Mary was a sweet and welcoming host. We got to walk around their farm and watch the cows being milked. There was a large selection for breakfast with homemade baked goods and fresh-squeezed orange juice. Many places claimed to have homemade baked goods, but this was the real thing. I highly recommend Ballindrum Farm.
This golden yellow INN in the little town of Athy was a ray of sunshine.
The owners Dan and Edwina were so hospital, personable, and generous, as was all their staff.
They helped with cabs, directions and were quite informative. Every morning they cooked a huge breakfast for whatever you wanted.
This place is very near the town of athy and it was perfect place for my party to stay at. The breakfast was amazing. And there was loads of space in the room. The price was an amazing think too as its wasn't too expensive for 4 people to stay at
Fast and easy check in, Very comfortable room, very clean hotel, Hotel bar was quiet but enjoyable ,had excellent breakfast next morning, fantastic shower followed by a quick and easy check out, we enjoyed our stay and would go back again.
The breakfast was amazing. I have stayed at 5 star hotels that don't compare. The location was amazing the room was amazing. The house was amazing and the reception and attention to detail during our stay was out of this world
The room was spotless, looks like the rooms were recently renovated and very comfy and modern. The owner was so nice and gave us the number for local taxis as we were going to a wedding in the hotel 2km away.
Hotel was very nice--good location to stop before returning to Dublin. Room and staff were lovely. Access to gym and pool a nice bonus although we did not have time to take advantage.
The breakfast was exceptional. It was the first traditional Irish Breakfast I had
since my arrival in Ireland two weeks ago. The host couple were very warm.
We visited quite a bit.
Everything you could want and more. B&B prices for hotel quality. The staff were friendly and professional, Sharon. And Emma are a credit to the industry
Convenient location to Athy and Carlow. Lovely hosts. Lots of extras such as homemade brown bread, bacon and free range eggs supplied at no extra cost.
