All was better than I expected! Great rooms, hotel employees extremely friendly and helpful. Food also excellent in restaurant, big thanks for man who was working there - great old school service. Receptionist was great as well, very friendly and welcoming guy.
Room was spacious and cosy, bathroom as well, except shower, that was too small with annoying curtain.
Hotel is friendly for huge dogs, we had 2 of them.

City in its self was not as vibrant as was illustrated, for a collage town I had better expectations for the city in general. It felt more like catering to local tourists than anything else. Choices of food and restaurants were plenty however outrageously expensive.
What I did enjoy was moving around Debrecen on the tram, literally takes you anywhere you need to be, including the famous spa's.

A beautiful and calm city, full of young people, interesting architecture, as old as newer buildings. Lots of bike paths for easier movement around the city.
The only drawback is that everything is monolingual and it is difficult to find your way in some basic things, such as paying for parking. But there is always a good person to help.

The streets are bad, the traffic is a bit dreadful because of chaotic traffic light system.
Visit Budapest or the eastern region of Hungary is really better for tourists, Debrecen is only for Workers.
But the peoples in Debrecen are mostly friendly and helpful.

The location of this apartment was spot on!
Right in the heart of the city centre, walking distance to the train station and all the shops, bars and restaurants.
Sitting on the tiny balcony in the morning for coffee or evening for a glass of wine was very nice. So many great restaurants are in the area and the standard of food is very good.
Over the past 5 years we have seen so many changes to the City, Every time we visit, there are new restaurants and coffee shops, renovated walkways, and gardens. The architecture of the buildings is beautiful although there are now so many newly built modern flats being built too.
What I love the most about Debrecen is the quietness. The tram system is so efficient there are less cars & pollution. I always feel healthier when I'm here.
Visit the zoo & Lake Tisza.
I would definitely recommend this city and the apartment we stayed in.

Debrecen seems like a nice chilled place to be.
Debrecen seems like a nice chilled place to be. People are polite and respectful. there are things to do and visit. I would definitely recommend visiting the Deri Museum and Reformed College where lovely staff took me around to show and tell, a special thank you to Zsuzsanna, who accompanied me throughout my visit as i was the only visitor then and i loved it. We also visited Aquaticum and Thermal Baths, and had a ride on the steam train, lovingly called Zsuzsi Vonat by locals.
If you get tired of being there, venture off to Eger, amazing historical city 2.5hrs away from Debrecen by bus, or for more thermal baths head to Hajduszoboszlo, 30 min away by bus. For a nature fix, go to the Hortobagy National Park which is around 1 hour away by bust but worth the visit.
Debrecen may seem a little too quite, i don't wanna say boring, at times, but it grows on you and wins you over with its provincial charm.

New, perfectly clean and equipped apartment in a quiet, green neighborhood. 10 min walk to tram, 5 to supermarket, 15 minutes to Aquaticum spa. Friendly and helpful host gave us precious tips about events and transportation. Upscale interior design - colorful ,calm and comfortable well above usual. Great value for money. Highly recommended.
Lovely hotel in an old mill with nice details. Our daughter loved the elevator. Dinner was a la carte, delicious and plany to choose from. The hotel was very close to city centre and to zoo and aquatic park. And the staff was very friendly and helpful. I definitely think this is the place to stay in Debrecen.
