Hotel Byzantion is located down the road to the Byzantine town of Mistras, a short drive from the Archaeological Site. It features rooms with spectacular views of ancient Mistras and Mount Taygetos.

Very friendly staff. Good breakfast. Beautiful room with a view. Excellent location.
This small luxury hotel, built in 1850 as the center of society, stands proudly under the ragged shadow of Mount Taygetos.

Maria the manager was the perfect hostess and made amazing breakfasts. She was very helpful in guiding us to dining locations. The room was very comfortable and the garden was beautiful.

Beautiful location. Restaurant was delicious for dinner and breakfast. Room comfortable and clean. The decor was very cottage-like and cozy. Close to hiking trails. If we had more time, we would have hiked the 1.5 hour trail to the Mystras site.

This was my fourth night in Greece, but the first place with a normal shower. Everything is relative.

I could happily stay longer in the superb hotel, but mainly there is one sight to see in Mystras - the site of the old Byzantine city.
We spent longer there than anticipated; and if we had more time and energy we could have spent the entire day.
Drive to the top; see the citadel and the churches at the top. Drive to the bottom to see the rest of the site.
There is good information at the site, but prepare by reading up ahead and ideally have a good guidebook to make clear what to see at the site.

The Mystras Archeological Site is an extraordinary collection of Byzantine churches and ruins, built into and atop a steep mountain. Allow at least two hours and be prepared for lots of walking on slippery, uneven, steep surfaces. Worth it!
Tip: easy to park in Mystras main square, with multiple tavernas to choose from for lunch or dinner.

It's a small town or you can even call it a village.
It's a small town or you can even call it a village. Coffee drinks and food can be found in the center square of that village. Ideal location to visit the famous Castle city of Mystras and after that, regroup and continue your journey. If i may suggest, the route from there to Kalamata through Taygetos mountain (EO82) is amazing...

I am very sorry for the CONFUSION in my review particualrly of this place. UNFORTUNATELY we could only spend ONE night at this magical and extraordinary PYRGOS OF MYSTRA. It was one of the most memorable places I have stayed in. Our host MARIA excels in her efficiency and kindness. The whole place has an aura of serenity and peace. It is no doubt due to the staff but also the surroundings: a profusion of orange and lemon trees, paerfumed roses and a beautifully landscaped garden. The room is not only beautiful but extremely well equipped and it was the best shower during my trip to Greece! We really received the royal treatment and in the magnificent dining room we were served a most delicious breakfast. I was so very sorry to leave the place the next morning and I woud recommend, without any hesitation, this particular hotel and make sure that you can spend MORE than only one night there. Our fondest appreciation to Maria.

Lovely quaint village within walking distance of the ancient archaeological sites, which are stunning.
It’s all very hilly to take a taxi to the top gate of the site if you’re feeling lazy - then it’s just up to the castle and then it’s all downhill back through the site and down into town

An amazing ruined city - great for anyone interested in history. We started at the top, walking up to the fortress then down through the city . We did not move our car as some tourist books recommend. The restaurant is outside the site but tickets are valid all day so no problem returning to walk back up - recommend this as you see things from a different perspective going in the opposite direction. There are sufficient information boards. Be aware there is only one toilet on site. Good shoes are a must - these are ruins! Highly recommend.
A lovely traditional house, high in the mountains, with beautiful hikes nearby. The real gems are the kind couple who run it, for whom I’d give 15/10. Impossible to do them justice in a few lines, but if you’ve been there, you know! Outstanding food, outstanding welcome, outstanding service, outstanding attention to detail, over and above anything a 5* hotel could ever offer because it comes from the heart. WHAT an experience! We miss them already …
Large resort with a wide range of services, jewellery, hairdresser, minimart (open till 00:00), spa, swimming pool, etc. Bellboy will usually approach you with a golf-car to help bring your luggage to the entrance (& later your room) as soon as you park your car in the carpark. Other staff are also very friendly as well. The breakfast variety here is surprisingly nice for its location (Mystras is inside the mountains after all).
It is a lovely converted mansion. It has been restored beautifully. There is a lovely garden outside where you can enjoy breakfast or have a glass of wine or an ouzo in the evening. Maria, in the morning, is a ray of sunshine and puts out a great spread! Mystras, the charming little village, is easily walkable from the hotel. Lots of restaurants in the area. A short drive to the castle/fortress.
The hotel is beautifully situated right in the centre of Mystras. We first visited just after it opened several years ago and it was lovely this time to see how the trees and shrubs have grown up, making the hotel blend beautifully with the landscape. The bedrooms were very comfortable with great beds and a fabulous shower. The spa was very welcoming and the breakfast ample and tasty.
Excellent location in a very romantic place. The hotel itself has kept its '60s charm without being dated and has a modern antique feel about it, which is quite unique. The pool area at the back is a lovely and quiet place to relax and cool off after visiting the archaeological site of Mystras. Great breakfast to set you off to a good start!
The room was very large and comfortable. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We had a great 3 night stay there and the breakfast was delicious each morning. The view from the front garden area is fantastic and there are several nice restaurants close by. It's a great place to relax after walking around Mystras or Sparti.
We were a group of 21 adults, and this hotel was exactly what we needed.
The Suites are very large and comfortable
The area is surrounded by olive and orange trees and the smell of the nature was great.
the staff was excellent and we even had a chance to make our own party after dinner.
thank you
Cute rustic style room with modern amenities. The room had a view of Mystras Ancient Site and balcony. Staff was friendly and helpful. We stayed over Easter and they informed us where we could eat dinner in town. Hotel had a restaurant on site and a good breakfast. Had off street parking available
We had a large room in a traditional building very close to the surprisingly lively centre of Mystras. The room had everything we needed, there was off road parking. The hostess was very friendly and the room was a bargain at the price we paid.
Brand new equipment and facilities, very clean spaces and friendly stuff. Of course the name of the place "Castle View" is exactly what you see from the window, the view of the Byzantine castle city of Mystras is extraordinary.
The boutique hotel has an excellent view of Mystras and Sparta, beautifully designed and furnished rooms, an exceptional breakfast delivered in a basket, wonderful staff, and a great location.
Really nice stone villa, great and quite location, very close to Mystras archeological site and other villages with beautiful hiking trails around the mountains! Highly recommend it!
Charming hotel in a small village with a fabulous restaurant on site. Amazing hiking and historical sites nearby. We felt very lucky to have found this little charm.
