Location was great, very nice beach with plenty of shade and chaise lounges. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Staff speak English very well. Breakfast selection of fresh fruits, yogurt and toppings, breads and juices were very nice.

The view and the jacuzzi. The patience of the proprietors with our poor French. They were very kind.

Typical Guadeloupean accommodation… perfect outdoor kitchen , dining and living room! Nice to have AC in each bedroom.we loved the View and the privacy.
The shared pool was also a great addition!
Offering an outdoor pool and a private beach area, Paradise Bay is located 1640 feet from Petit Anse Beach.. Free WiFi access is available in all rooms.

The village was quaint and pleasant to stroll around, of course it was also the location for murders in paradise so we spent some time finding various filmed locations. We'll positioned with some of the best beaches within easy reach. Some of the restaurants were over priced for some very ordinary plates but some of the takeaway and lesser quoted eating places were excellent and good value.

Deshaies was pretty crowded at the time we were there.
Deshaies was pretty crowded at the time we were there. You need to make reservations in the restaurant to get a table. Savane restaurant was great with views of the sunset during dinner. Make sure to visit the botanical garden.

Quiet part of the island and the most beautiful!
Quiet part of the island and the most beautiful! Many gorgeous beaches, mountains and scenery. Can easily spend all our time there without going to other parts of the island. Water activities are plentiful and there are also lots of hiking available including climbing Mt. Soufriere! No need to eat at a restaurant - the food trucks serve really delicious food and the people working them are very friendly.

Lovely town, got to see all the set/filming areas of Death in Paradise, very friendly helpful locals, nice restaurants, pleasant town. Easy and close in the car to lots of lovely sights, Botanic Gardens, the volcano, ACTe Museum etc. We ate in La Madras where they film the programme and Chill which had huge ribs and Le Reflet (the nicest Poulet Colombo - chicken curry! and the chicken with vanilla). I would highly recommend to visit the Maison du Cacao - book your tour in English if you won't understand it in French.

I have not been to many Caribbean islands, but Guadeloupe,...
I have not been to many Caribbean islands, but Guadeloupe, and Deshaies in particular, is my favorite place so far. The area has wonderful natural beaches, simple places to drink and eat, and lovely nature. It is the polar opposite to all-inclusive beach resorts, in a good way. All beaches are accessible and free, the people were friendly, and it felt safe everywhere we went. Our list:
1. Beaches: Grande Anse, Cluny, La Perle, Leroux, Petite Anse, Malendur
2. Eat: Paradise Cafe, La Kaz, Le Madras, Karacoli, Le Fournil (patisserie)
3. Drink: La Croisiere (when there is live music), Le Madras, Karacoli
4. Activities: Snorkeling at Malendur and Ilets Pigeon (rent a kayak to get to the island), Botanical Garden, snorkeling at several other beaches to see turtles, surfing at Cluny beach, diving at Malendur or at Petite Anse.
5. Highlight1: Getting 2 bottle of beer at a local store run by a charming old couple, having the owner offer to open the bottles for us, and walking across the street to the beach and sit with locals to chat and watch the sunset.
6. Highlight2: Taking a snorkeling excursion boat ride to 3 snorkeling spots in Reserve du Cousteau.
7. Highlight3: Driving around the area, noticing Cluny beach, parking under a mango tree, watching the Point Break style waves crash along the beach, and walking on the golden sands and picking up just-fallen coconuts (and having a local guy show us how to tell if it was good or not).
8. Highlight4: Listening to a local band playing folk music on hand drums at LaCroisiere on Saturday night while a local guy reached into the cooler to get us beers and chat with us (volunteer waiter). He would let the owner know how many beers he got us every once in a while for us to keep up with the tab.

I loved the laid back, uncomplicated, village feel, and yet cosmopolitan nature of Deshaies. It's really small and stress free, and you get to know everything quickly. We bought excellent fresh fish and crayfish at the harbour, supermarkets have everything you need. Little boutiques to buy pareo and beachwear. Bought lovely scented tea. Restaurants nearby with lovely seafood, creole and simple dishes. Dining over the waves, we enjoyed L' amer Restaurant. And another restaurant with live music on Saturdays, Restaurant La Croisiére. Met artistic locals there, and people showed local dances. We also ate at La Madras, aka Catherine's Bar.
I loved the view and the privacy. The sunset from the outdoor living space was my favorite part of the stay. Each night, we got a delicious meal from the lady who cooked at the road entrance to LeClerc and we sat on the balcony with some champagne and enjoyed the sunset over dinner. Well equipped kitchen for the small size. Some essential food items in cabinet like coffee, tea, salt & pepper, oil, even butter and some sauce. Comfortable bed with mosquito netting. Exceptionally clean.
Very homely. The owners were super friendly. The room and kitchenette are spacious, everything you need is there. Interesting self-made furniture, lighting and interior elements.
The location is almost on the beach, approx. 90 meters.
Plage de la Perle is a pearl, one of the best and most beautiful beaches on the island. Quite big waves most of the time, which makes swimming even more interesting. And fantastic sunsets!
I think you will struggle to find anywhere better.
We were warmly welcomed by the host. He thoughtfully had provided some goodies (food/drinks) for the next morning. Convenient as we arrived pretty late. Thanx Lionel! The view from the deck is beautiful, the apartment is very well equiped, spacious and clean. The location is perfect to explore the area, i.e. beaches, Deshaies town, Botanic gardens and up the coast to Sainte-Rose (boattrip), inland for hiking and down the coast to snorkel at the Cousteau Reserve.
Great location! If you are looking for a quiet getaway during the busy season this is the place to be. Restaurants are within walking distance, as is the beach. Shops are a bit further away, so having a car is a must.
Stephanie and Nicholas are superfriendly, they take time for a chat and are always willing to help or assist you with your needs. So, an excellent stay at a wonderful place. Will certainly return here when visiting Guadeloupe.
Dario is a super nice guy. He waited for us when we arrived at 9pm in the evening to show us our bungalow. Location is in walking distance (~15min) to plage de la Perle. The bungalows are basic but totally sufficient if you don't plan to cook extravagant meals.
We stayed here at the beginning and again the last few nights of our Guadeloupe vacation.
We loved the place. The house was clean and spacious, you felt right in the forest sitting on the balcony. The host, Sergio is super responsive and welcoming. During our stay he made us really feel home and prepared us some nice drinks on some of the evenings. Also the location is super convenient to discover Basse Terre.
comfortable bed, very clean, wonderful view from our balcony. nice pool to refresh after a hot day. well equipped kitchenette. Tasty “planteur” (local drink) made by Agnes upon our arrival. If we ever return to Guadeloupe we will be staying here for sure!
Agnes and Guylain are great hosts.
- Great location away from the crowds near Deshaies and several beaches
- Hosts are very friendly, we felt welcomed all the time
- The apartment and terrace had a great view over the ocean and mountain
- Lovely furnishing and small touch ups around the property
- Nice garden and pool
Lovely bed and breakfast perfectly located near one of the most beautiful beaches in Basse Terre, plage de Grande Anse in Deshaies. The owners are very welcoming, ready to provide good advice and make you feel at home from the first minutes of your stay. Breakfast is a must have.
Beautiful Villa with fantastic views of Deshaies and the bay. If you are a ‘Death in Paradise’ fan you will have an uninterrupted view of both Katherine’s Bar and Honore Police Station, though you will need binoculars or a telephoto lens for detail. We had a great week.
Our room (duplex suite) was gorgeous, I especially liked the big balcony facing the gardens. Great breakfast and great location next to Grande Anse beach (the most beautiful beach of Guadeloupe!) Also my compliments to the excellent daily housekeeping. Thank you !
The pool area looked very nice and staff were friendly. It was a very short walk to the Fort Royal Resort, where we enjoyed a great evening at the outdoor bar watching the sunset. Breakfast at the Tropicana the following morning was very good.
The value for money here is really good. The bungalows are really cute and comfortable and the hotel is right at the beach. Best place to stay in Deshaies. Beautiful sunsets from here.
Close to one of the most beautiful beach in Guadeloupe.
Parking next to the door and bus stop across the street.
2 small stores across the parking lot for simple food.
Stunning views, ample space, very spacious apartment, very clean and well appointed. It had everything! Great kitchen and great host who greeted us upon arrival!
