Over the years I have stayed in over a dozen hotels and guesthouses in Akhaltsikhe (including Hotel Like several times)......Considering the room rate, location, room view, the facility and room amenities and the owner hospitality, the Hotel Like is clearly the best.....There may not be someone at reception to check you in upon arrival. But call one of the phone numbers on the entrance door (Sabo speaks English) and somebody will be there shortly to check you in.

The host couple is very friendly and warm. When we checked in, they welcomed us kindly with hot coffee and light refreshments.
We wanted to go to Vardzia so we asked them how to get there. They introduced us to a taxi guide operated by a friend of theirs and we used this. This guide truly exceeded my expectations! Maxo, our taxi guide, took us not only to vardzia but also to many amazing places that we would not have been able to go to if we had not taken a taxi. He was friendly and explained the relevant information about each place to us. The guide's price was totally reasonable and we were really satisfied with it. If you are planning to go to vardzia, I highly recommend this guide to you.

Upon arrival I was upgraded to a room with a balcony.....The view from the room is very nice. In the foreground is a mostly residential area and in the background are mountains (but no view of artificial Lake Akhaltsikhe as stated on booking.com).....The hosts are very welcoming and helpful and speak good English. Though the hosts are not always onsite they were easy to reach via the booking.com app. Good idea to inform the hosts of your expected arrival time.....Excellent heating from an overhead unit.....The shower is not enclosed but there is plenty of hot water, good water pressure and it drains quickly.....The room has two beds, two nightstands and two outdoor chairs. The hosts brought me a more comfortable chair and I was able to cobble together a table/desk of suitable height by stacking one nightstand on top of the other.....The room has good lighting, many electrical outlets and the room and hotel are clean.....The ground floor is an attractive common space while most all the rooms are on upper floors assessable by stairs.....The location of the hotel is on a semi-busy street that is mostly a residential area. Plenty of food stores nearby but few - if any - restaurants. But the walk to the centre of Akhaltsikhe is not too far. Maybe 15 minutes. All in all, a lodging option at a very reasonable price and - for the most part - it had what mattered to me.

We made a last minute change to our travel plans to come to Akhaltsikhe for 1 night. 1 night us definitely not enough, 2 nights would have been better to fit in a a slow paced tour of vardzia (2-3 hours recommended, plus 2 hours total driving time). Give plenty of time to have a full tour of the fortress.
The town is very cute, and cool experience

One afternoon and one day were long enough to see the castle and go on a basic tour of the area. With two days more I would have gone to see the various churches and synagogues in town and taken the time for a hike in the surrounding mountains.

Very impressive fortress/castle of IX century, rebuilt in XII century. However, in my opinion, some parts of the reconstruction of 2012 doesn't fit well with old structures and makes to desire much more. Overall, it is worth to visit it.
But, if you are in Akhaltsikhe, you are simply OBLIGUED to visit Vardzia caves (1 hour away). It will leave you astonished!!!
And also Saro megaliths and ruins of 2nd millennium BC (45 min away)...
And much more...

A very interesting place. Rabati was fantastic, there are many other beautiful fortresses, churches, monasteries around. The nature was beautiful. Only about 62 km from Vardzia - a must see in Georgia.

Akaltsikhe is a beautifull area in Georgia and a good place to start tours to e.g. Vardiz or Borjomi. The castle in Akaltsikhe is a huge rebuild old castle renewed with new sites inside the castle walls. An exciting mixture of old and new. Be sure to have time for all the corners with nice mosaic basins and walk up the stairs to the towers for extraordinary good view.
The room I lived in was like mini-flat. Gorgeous bed, your own shower. Zone for working with laptop. You can use the common kitchen if you're a fan of cooking by yourself. Breakfast with a view on fortress included and was nice (eggs, Georgian cheese, coffee, jam, tomatoes). The main thing I want to highlight is bright and kind owners of this place. Khatuna and Zaza are the best! Artist and musician living together and creating fantastic atmosphere there. I will definitely come again.

Hotel Beni is one of the nicest places we stayed in. The location is next the Rabti Castle and to town center. The rooms are nice and comfortable, not a single thing to complain about. Dinner and breakfast were fabulous, the hostess Natia, speaks good English and was responsive to all our needs.
On top of that they have an archaeological site right in their yard, next to the beautiful garden, the ruins of a Turkish bath from the 16th century
Accomodation is very close to bus stop and near the castle . Store is just a few steps away. I would say ideal location. Room is good size , comfortable . Big plus it really has private bathroom. In many cases in Georgia there are advertising private bathroom , but they mean bathroom in hallway for everybody. Here you have your own bathroom in the room. Owner is very friendly and helpful . We would definitely stay here again
Our hosts have been super nice to us. They offered us a better room for no extra charge, because it was empty. They gave us home made wine as a gift. They are very welcoming and warm-hearted. Good example of the Georgian hospitality. The rooms were clean and comfy. Breakfast was also delicious and a lot. Next time if we come to this area again, we will definitely stay there. Highly recommended!! 10/10
Excellent staff and cleanness. The host even gifted us homemade wine. The hotel is located very close to the Rabati Castle. Also, close to the center. Room was very clean and comfortable.There were all necessary facilities in the toilet: soap, towels, shampoo.. I would definitely recommend it to everyone who is searchig a place to stay.
Everything was FANTASTIC! Food was superb! Best food we had in our our 8 day trip to Georgia! Svetlana, the owner, was so kind and helpful. She recommended Max (driver/guide) who generously shared his local knowledge. We wish them the best and hope to come again. Also, this place is super convenient, right across from the castle.
For the whole trip in Georgia, we stayed at the perfect hotel for the first time. Very clean. Everything glitters. The rooms are cozy, clean, air-conditioned, refrigerator, bathroom is in every room. Lovely little hotel in the old city in authentic but fully renovated building in walking distance from the castle. Very friendly hosts who let us use the kitchen to prepare our own dinner and answered all our questions. Sweet breakfast room, very clean rooms. Would have loved to stay longer.
The hotel complies 100% with how it is promoted; clean, good internet, comfortable, etc. But beyond that, the hospitality is incredible, it is managed by the owners, you can ask them about the stories and history of the town.
I don't think I've ever had a more generous, warm welcome. The couple who own Hotel Julia are the loveliest, friendliest people who can't do enough for you. And the breakfast was huge and delicious!
