The staff is terrific and provided much needed guidance on local options such as the télépherique and local communes. I did not take breakfast but it looked good. They have coffee and tea available at all hours, very nice.
The Novotel is set at the heart of Grenoble's business district, only a few steps from the TGV train station. A tram stop is conveniently located just outside the hotel.

Breakfast was very good, and the location couldn’t have been better for our purposes.
B&B Grenoble Center Verlaine is just 1.9 mi from the center of Grenoble and the SAEM Alpexpo Events Center. A buffet breakfast is prepared daily and free WiFi is provided in the air-conditioned rooms....
The hotel was in an industrial part of the town however built so well that this did not detract from our stay whatsoever. The room was so incredibly quiet, no road noise at all! The rooms were modern and comfortable. The breakfast area was lovely, again modern and the breakfast, the usual continental breakfast was superb eith great selection of pastries, kids cereal, boiled eggs and meats and cheese. The staff were so helpful even with my non existent French hindering the process. Great for a short stop before heading up the mountains.
Familiy room. Quite huge room with one queen sized bed and a bunked bed for the kids. The room was large with a modern bath room. The receptionist was nice and friendly. There is a Buffalo Grill resto right next to it, so if you are hungry, you can go there. Several other markets are near to the hotel. The location itself is some hundret meters far from the next "hot spot". Good beds to rest in as well. Protected parking.
The most interesting part was getting into the hotel - you have to print a booking code in a display nearby front door, there is kind of a cash machine, you pay by card and get the code which works as a key both for the entrance to the hotel and to the room. Room is like usual hotel room, not to spacious but clean, good beds. No communication at all.
Straightforward, functional accomodation for a stopover with all the basic facilities. Friendly staff (we only saw the same young man in the evening and the following morning). Spacious well-lit parking in front of the hotel. Breakfast was OK. Comfy beds. Easy to reach from highway. Hotel had been renovated recently.

Quiet, efficient, safe and mountains around the hotel. Cool terrasse to enjoy a breakfast. The lady from the breakfast was super nice too.
Excellent location just off the motorway, great starting point for Route Napoleon.
