The location right in the center of the Old Town is great and it’s very good value. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful and speak English. We’ve stayed many times and feel very comfortable here.

We went to Besancon to visit a friend and had only time for a short walk around the city. We visited Victor Hugo's birthplace which was very informative, and we were delighted to see some Roman ruins preserved in the center of the city. We didn't have time to visit the museum of the Resistance and would very much like to visit it on our next trip there.

Besancon is a nice small French town.
Besancon is a nice small French town. It has a couple things to do in the city, but I feel like the better ones are the Citadelle and parts outside of the city. But you need a vehicle to better reach outside.
I stayed 2 nights during January, it was cold and a bit windy, so going to a higher place was out of the question.
Th Time Museum and Victor Hugo's birthplace are pretty cool to visit and not expensive.
Lastly, I felt that people in Besancon were very friendly.

The nature is nice.
The nature is nice. You can make different walks in and around the town.
The busconnection is perfect en cheap. So you can leave the car at the hotel. You don't have to look for a parking near the town.
There are more museums than we aspected. Only the museum of resistance was closed.

In summer not all restaurants are open for business. So it is wise to make reservations because it is busy. There is not a lot of trees, flowers, parks so the city looks a bit "stoney" / not romantic. The citadel is nice to visit though with children.

Wished we could have stayed longer to visit Besancon!
Wished we could have stayed longer to visit Besancon! We only stopped overnight on our way back to Germany but saw the Citadelle lit up at night and had a 20min wander in the morning before heading out. The city looked really interesting to visit and wander around for at least a full day or two. Might look into going back through in the future to see more of it.
Quiet location although near the railway station. Large and clean room, airconditioning (it can be hot in this part of France) modern bathroom with excellent shower and swimming pool. I didn’t use the wellness area but it looks okay. There is a safe parking at the hotel’s site (only guests) and several places are suitable for electric vehicles! An Italian restaurant (not only pizza) with a peaceful terrace is besides the hotel, so you don’t have to walk to the center if you don’t like.
LA Bisontine is bang in the centre of Besançon:opposite the majestic town Hall and next to the law courts and the main squares with easy transport at your door step. The flat itself is very spacious. 3 double bedrooms. But the piece of resistance was the main living/kitchen. The flat is the private home of someone residing overseas, so it is stuffed with books, all languages, music all genre and the Kitchen had exquisite spices. We felt at home.
We arrived very late, 02:00 am in the morning, but still had a good parking space and very friendly staff at the reception desk. Room was spacious, clean, good beds, very quiet. The hotel is in a secluded area, surrounded by villas. Next morning, very good breakfast buffet. If it had't been so chilly and raining the night before, we would have used the pool too. All in all, a great stopover hotel.
It was a really exceptional apartment in a great location. Rooms were spacious and nicely furnished and we even had toys for the kids. 2 toilets were great for a family of 5. We found everything we needed and it was very easy to explore the city from there. Would definitely recommend this apartment.
I loved the location and the bathroom and bedroom were spacious. The bed was very comfortable with a nice firm mattress...a firm mattress is important for me. I thought this hotel had a bit of personality/character...and the town of Besançon certainly did. Absolutely love this city!
Good location for a break in the journey south. Selection of restaurants in walkable distance. Hotel restaurant wasn't open in evening but breakfast was a very good buffet and good value. Lots of parking space.
A good hotel for the price, providing the enough for a pleasant stay. However, not so good as other Ibis where I stayed. The location is excellent, with car parking below not expensive and one free.
Hotel staff was really kind. Breakfast was really nice with fresh orange juice and bakery. Parking is nearby and they accompany you after unloading your baggage. Thanks again for everything!
