This is a beautiful location, within the family's deer park. The food is delicious and home made - we enjoyed sitting on the terrace at the back in the evening after a tasty freshly prepared dinner, watching the sunset, enjoying a beer from La Choue brasserie (brewed at the bottom of the road so couldn't get more local), with the only sound the deer munching the grass a stone's throw away plus the birds tweeting as they catch flies.

The room is quite small but sufficient; the room warm and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom is a bit odd - made of what seemed to be moulded plastic akin to a caravan shower - but contains all the necessary features, and the shower actually worked really well. Breakfast was continental only with a more limited range of options than you'd usually get in a full hotel (but at a much higher price) but we found it excellent from our perspective: tea, really good orange juice, yoghourt, dried fruit, a basket of bread and cakes, and a wide range of jams.

A very warm and entertaining welcome, despite us arriving later than we had anticipated.
The host was very friendly . The Hermitage is a stunning building, recently refurbished to a high degree with fantastic large airy bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms. We really enjoyed walking around the gardens, meeting the very large and friendly sheep and exploring the woods

This was a most amazing chance find.
This was a most amazing chance find. An old monastery way point that has been recently restored with great taste and quality. The rooms were excellent.
The host was most accommodating and very attentive. Dinner was fantastic and he really went the extra distance.
Right next to the national park with walks galore.
The down side? We only stayed there one night.

We had a wonderful stay at a very well appointed and maintained residence. The owner greeted us upon arrival, showed us to our room and served wonderful food for the evening meal. I recommend the dinner as well as breakfast in the beautiful dining hall.

A great stop off if you're travelling from the south of France to Calais. Beautiful surroundings and a beautiful house. Great room size with chance of an evening meal, couldn't fault! Very safe if have bikes on the back of a car.
We have had an absolutely amazing stay at Hermitage St Roche. The location was stunning, and the hotel was lovely. Moreover, the owner was fantastic towards the guest and made us and our pet feel at home immediately. The diner and breakfast were great as well! The room was very spacious, well-furnished and the bed was extremely comfortable. Everything exceeded our expectations and therefore we would highly recommend a stay at Hermitage St Roche.
It is an interesting drive up to the hotel through a very pretty village and up a long track.
Once there we were shown to our enormous, spotlessly clean room..
Aperitif served at 7 prior to a delicious 4 course meal served with wine at the most beautiful long dining table along with the other guests.
Breakfast of juice, fruit, croissant and a perfectly cooked omelette made for an excellent stay in this unique place
Converted original farm building decorated and fitted to a high standard with a “home from home” feel in a retreat location. Amazing for nature lovers-suited us very well. The huge swift population encouraged by the disused farm building on site is breathtaking to watch, as well as so much other wildlife around. Closest village Arc-en-Barrois is lovely with a great bakery.
Stayed overnight while travelling north through France. A traditional French Logis hotel.
Our room was clean, comfortable, and well appointed. The staff we met were all friendly and engaging, and our meals, both evening and breakfast were of a very high standard. We had stayed here overnight previously and I would happily return and recommend for an overnight stop.
They had a dog at the hotel who was so lovely and friendly and made our day! A lovely hotel with a hunting lodge theme (as it was in the past). Fixtures and fittings interesting, particularly in the breakfast room. There were great paintings of animals on the walls of the bar by a local artist and we just had to buy one! Good breakfast
Met interesting guests. Breakfast good. Loved the location and hotel ambiance. Returned at end of holiday as enjoyed 1st night there. Just one criticism - the restaurant. Can only think that chef has changed since glowing reports earlier. Despite this we enjoyed our 2 stays here.
Such a lovely host and amazing hotel! Dinner was so so delicious and very familial/cosy food, similar with breakfast. We stayed with a 6m old and he was also well catered for - cot / mini bath / changing mat and high chair
Handy for the A5 motorway in a pretty village. Parking in front of the hotel. Decent (if over-priced) restaurant with good local wine and friendly service. Atrractive and spacious bar area.
Comfortable hotel with a great host and staff. Breakfast was excellent and the restaurant had good food. We stated there two days and we enjoyed our stay. Recommended.
