The petite déjeuner was a cut above the rest, in this class. 'loved the proprietors / operators!
The location is superb, although in the summertime when the windows must be opened the amount of agricultural and industrial truck traffic through Varennes might be annoying.
In many ways this hotel is a gem along the lines of a traditional French estaminet in that the owners live in it and the centrally located kitchen is adds much charm to the property and its operation.
The hotel lies in the heart of the Argonne forest, in peaceful and relaxing surroundings and offers an ideal location for both business travelers and tourists.

Everyone was so kind to us. We had a remarkable dinner with a very friendly waiter and the next day they let us sit on the lovely terrace—bringing us coffee and croissants long after they were finished providing breakfast. We sat for hours there in the sunshine after my 90-year old parents slept off their jet lag. The building itself is not beautiful but we had a truly beautiful experience.

This Bed and Breakfast was so beautiful and unique. It's on top of a hill where there used to be a medieval fortress. The view from the terrace is mesmorizing. We enjoyed our dinner out there on our last night. We could take a path down to the town so that we could walk to a restaurant on two nights. The owner, Vincent, was an outstanding host. He went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and were enjoying our stay. He provided much guidance on the best things to do in the area. Breakfast each morning was wonderful. This is a true bed and breakfast experience with an owner who really cares about his guests.

14-18 Meuse-Argonne is an outstanding hotel/B&B option for those touring the Meuse-Argonne and Verdun areas. The location couldn't be more convenient... in the heart of all the major sites. And Maarten and DiDi are outstanding hosts. They are warm, friendly and very helpful with suggestions (you can even arrange to tour the area with Maarten, who is a prolific author on the Meuse-Argonne and a noted historian). There is also a small museum on-site with artifacts from Maarten's collection to enhance the overall experience. Breakfast is complimentary (and delicious) and outstanding dinners are also available for a nominal additional fee. I highly recommend 14-18 Meuse-Argonne for travelers seeking an outstanding lodging experience on the Meuse-Argonne!

We had a magnificent experience in this country setting in France. The area was of historical significance due to the cemeteries around the area from WW1 and the lost battalion of the 77th. Our town was simple and during the night there were no street lights to put on so it was very dark. The hotel food was superb. It had set menu choices at E16, E 25, and E 35. We choose the E25 and loved it, especially the delicious large steak that came out. Fabulous.
The room was wonderful. The beds comfortable. The restaurant evening meal was awesome, followed by a delicious breakfast. I thought the hotel was a pure joy, and the location was perfect. I recommend the Hotel L'Argonn' Auberge to everyone. AND... for WWI enthusiasts, this place allowed great access to the American Cemetery, the 14-18 museum, and the gateway to the montfaucon monument. I will stay there again.
