Our best stay in Spain so far! In the midst of beautiful mountains the hotel has amazing views. The rooms are clean. The staff is really friendly. Best of all, you have free breakfast. This place is worth it for people hiking in Picos de Europa or visiting the towns.
This charming hotel is perfectly situated in Cabrales to explore the superb Cares route, where you can enjoy trekking and hiking across spectacular landscapes.

The view was awesome and the owners were super nice and responsive. It is in a small town in the mountain, a great location to see the Picos. The breakfast is good, it's made to order with a small menú. The dinner was awesome, the solomillo cerdo con queso sauce was one of the best meal I've had in Spain. The room were confortable and clean.

Comfortable hotel with a good breakfast. Our room was in the new building next door. There is plenty of free parking and you’re a short walk from restaurants and bars. We’d stay there again.
The rutas del cares is a one day event. Other hikes in the area but I can't imagine more breath taking than this hike. Definitely advise staying in Cain to start hike from that end and not bothering with the last 2km decent into poncebo. Was able to leave around noon and return by about 6:30. beautiful drive into the area from the northwest as well as the drive out into the northeast toward Santander.
I've hiked the alps, west highland way, appalachain, Ireland. Ruta del cares is at least as amazing and well worth the stop if in the north of spain.
Although long not difficult at all. Some really high cliffs but the path is plenty wide to not get panicky.

It's such an amazing path to walk.
It's such an amazing path to walk. The views are great throughout and the landscape keeps changing. We ate at the end of the path, in Poncebos and went back to Caín afterwards. Really nice feeling of accomplishment after the almost 25k :)

This really is the end of the road!
This really is the end of the road! Cain exists for the ruta del Cares walk. Fantastic! Pretty village . busy in season. Semi deserted out with. If you book a hotel then, do check out the eating options.
Location is hard to beat and all of the small hotels in Cain offer a similar standard of stay. Not luxurious but beds were very comfortable with soft matteresses and pillows. Bathroom was serviceable. Room was warm as radiators came on overnight. There is indoor and terrace seating for drinks and food, basic but ok. Menu choice was good for both lunch and dinner, service good and the food was well cooked and tasty. Parking at the front of the hotel is limited but there are spaces nearby.
Very friendly place at the trailhead to the Ruta de Cares. Beautiful surroundings. Small basic room but sparklingly clean, with welcome chocolates and bath salts from the hosts. Nice outside terrace with the restaurant, perfect for drinks and dinner after hiking. Breakfast is included and as we left early in the mornings, the hosts prepared it for us in advance. The hosts are very friendly and speak English. The hotel has parking. WiFi worked well in the room (but not outside).
Check in, beds that were not rock hard, the little touches that were appreciated ie chocolates on the bed (!) and the packs of bathroom things incase you forgot... Tony - you'll know when you get there - a life saver when my South American Spanish was not understood. The wonderful moment when you realise that all the tourists have gone and you just hear the river and ... nothing! Cain is quiet and a great base when the hoards have gone.
It is a nice spot on Ruta (right at the beginning of the trail, or at the end). Definitely "helpful" during rainy days so you can warm up comfortably. Hotel is on nice spot, even easily accessible by car. Simple breakfast but with everything what's needed. In the village there are some groceries but we haven't used them.
Ideal accommodation to start Ruta del Cares from Caín early in the morning. We had a very good experience for the one night we spent there, with friendly staff, free parking (including the next day, as we did the trail and were allowed to keep the car in their parking lot), good breakfast and comfortable room.
Very nice family run hotel. Very friendly and helpful. Great dinner at end of 20km hike.. Nice outdoor grill and grandpa made us some homemade sausage sandwiches for the hike. Also got the recipe off him for his "secret sauces" . Really cool place in the middle of the mountains.

Room and bathroom were clean. Host was very nice. The place is also a restaurant. Breakfast was good. We also had dinner, which was also very good. Parking is available onsite. Cain is a very small town and we stayed there so that we could walk in the canyon.
Amazing place in Cain. Very easy check-in process, near-by parking available and the location couldn’t be better. The house is super clean, comfortable and with a very beautiful decoration. Would definitely return!
Cain is a good spot for a stay over on a walk, lovely views.
Our rooms were airy and spacious.
Decent buffet breakfast, limited choice but enough. (We did not eat other meals here so cannot comment.)
Superb location in Cain, perfect for the Ruta de Cares walk. Charming village setting, comfortable rooms, enormous portions in the restaurant and a great friendly host. Totally recommend staying here
This is an excellent starting point for the Cain Gorge walking route. The food was excellent. We should have taken time to learn a few more Spanish phrases to make the most of it.
Breakfast was fantastic! Also the location was perfect for us since we went on to do ruta del Cares that same day. Staff was really nice and we had a great dinner in the hotel.
The hostel is located in very beautiful village of Caín. It is very clean. The staff was helpful to arrange that we stay in one room despite two distinct reservations we had.
The bedroom was spacious and comfortable. A simple, clean attractive room, larger than your normal hotel room at this price, with a stunning view of the mountains.
