Set between the Rhine River and the Black Forest, Rust is a small German town that is best known for its huge Europa Park. The largest theme park in Germany, it only comes second behind Disneyland Paris as Europe’s most popular amusement park.
The park’s 16 themed zones contain a variety of high-adrenaline rides as well as attractions for little kids. There are also shows, a 4D cinema and various eating establishments all over the complex.
In addition to the elaborately designed hotels within Europa Park, Booking.com has a fantastic range of Rust accommodations including hotels with outdoor pools, apartments with parking, and cheap guesthouses.
However, this is of course not the only reason to visit. The Baden-Württemberg region has some wonderful cycling routes, and the hills to the east of Rust are also popular for hiking.
The town is located less than an hour drive from the Black Forest spa resort of Baden-Baden and the colorful city of Freiburg. Each route passes by lush vineyards and little towns with half-timbered houses. Historic Strasbourg is over the border with France to the north, while Basel to the south is a lesser-known Swiss gem.

Rust is just for Europa Park visits, and does not offer much for other expectations. But EP is very amazing, especially for families. A 2-day visit was ideal for us, but depending on the kids' ages and joy, a few more days can be worth it. (Also parents have joy, too!)

Rust is a fantastic little town in South West Germany.
Rust is a fantastic little town in South West Germany. Plenty of eateries, bars and bakeries. Europa Park, Germanys biggest, and probably one of the best Theme Parks in the world is on its doorstep, as is Rulantica Water Park.
Good base for Europa/Rulantica and visiting Black Forrest.

The great secret about visiting Europa Park with the family...
The great secret about visiting Europa Park with the family is the adjacent town of Rust. You can either sit in the traffic jam that morning with the entire rest of south western Germany, Switzerland and France, or you can stay the night before with the family, have a leisurely breakfast and then either catch the local bus over or walk, depending on your hotel's location. It's nicer than the Europa Park parking experience, and staying in Rust gives you somewhere to collapse with the family after a long day on the rides. There's hotels with parking, supermarkets for the essentials and cheap family restaurants. It feels like a cheat code few others have found yet for an enjoyable stay.

Rust is geared around Europa Park and Rutlantica.
Rust is geared around Europa Park and Rutlantica. We should have hired a car as unless we were in the parks there was very little to do. The parks are fabulous and great fun, we had a blast in them and will be back. The people of Rust are really friendly, there are plenty of places to eat on a night however nothing is open through the day for food (apart from one kiosk outside the front gates).
Rust is very pretty but quiet.

One half of our group spent 2 days at Europapark but the queues were at least an hour long for each ride, for a ride which was 1’. Saying that though, it was a public holiday on the Thursday. When we drove off on Friday, not a public holiday, the traffic jams coming into Rust from every highway as horrendous….
The other half of us rode our MTBs to Schwarzwald (30’ by bike away), which was amazing with beautiful trails and bakeries along the way to stop at.
First of all the area of rust seemed very nice and new and well maintained and that didn’t change when we arrived at the hotel. The staff greeted us very kindly and spoke good English and gave us a free parking voucher to use at the Rulantica water park. There is ample free parking at the hotel and a 10 min walk to europa park. Breakfast was exactly what we needed again staff was very polite. Netflix in the room which nowadays I believe every hotel should have! All round Great stay well done to the staff and the owner!
Sparkling clean place, friendly hosts, great location. We had a wonderful stay in Rust and will definitely be back. The kitchen was very well stocked, the beds were comfortable and our host was super knowledgeable and helpful. The bathroom was beautiful, we loved the decor. Everything was perfect. If you're staying in the summer you might want to add air conditioning for a small fee, especially if you like to keep your bedroom on the colder side. We slept with the windows open and were quite comfortable though.
The room was in a newly refurbished building. It was spacious, very clean, had everything we needed for our short stay. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast was very good, with good selection of produce. We didn't explore the entertainment area so cannot comment on that.
It was very close to Europa Park (7 min walk) and 3 min drive from Rulantica. We were offered free parking tickets for Rulantica from the hotel which I find a nice gesture.
Our suite was very spacious, comfortable and clean. The location is ideal for Europa-Park visits with just few minutes walking distance. The online checking worked like a charm and eased our lives considerably, given the fact that the decision to stay here was spontaneous and we arrived after 1 am. I would pick this hotel anytime in case we ever visit Rust again!
We really enjoy our stay at Sunnegässle Hotel in New building Regenbogen, triple room big enough for 3. Spotless clean, briliant outdoor playground for kids. Just walking distance to the Europa park. Parking free of charge. Breakfast was ok. good coffee! Rust is nice little village.
Staff was welcoming and helpful . Thank you! Definitely coming back :)
Ingrid was absolutely amazing, she went above and beyond for us, there is no laundry service in Rust and she offered to do the laundry by herself, the place is super clean and very big, with fully equipped kitchen and two toilets, Ingrid was very available and responded quickly to every problem or a question we had, thank you very much for everything!
Nice little apartment in the middle of rust and about 20 min away from Europapark by foot. It is modern with new appliances and bath equipment. The owner was friendly and answered my questions quickly and precisely. Checking in and out was very fast and convenient. The bunk beds were comfortable.
Until a couple of years ago the choices to stay in Rust were either the hotels of Europa Park or guesthouses and pensions, with relatively high prices per night. It's nice to see that a Moxy chain hotel was added to that, with reasonable prices. Will prefer it again in the future.
The hotel is right in front of the main park entrance so the location is very good. You also have a mini-market where you can also get some on-the-spot cooked food (mainly pizza) and it is opened until late in the night.
Everything else is standard.
On the plus side we liked the location of this hotel as just a few minutes walk to europa park and also plenty of restaurants just a few feet away.
The bedroom was clean.
The breakfast was good, there was plenty of choice.
Very efficient communication with the owner. Keys were waiting for us in the safe box. There are drinking water, kettle, microwave and fridge easily available for guests. Very close to Europa Park hotel entrance.
The best family hotel I've ever stayed in. My family and I enjoyed everything. It was very clean and neat. The breakfast was excellent. The location is great. And above all, very professional and dedicated staff.
the location to europa park and it’s hotels is excellent. The Wi-Fi, bathroom and kitchen were all amazing. we only stayed one night but we will definitely be back!
everything about the hotel was satisfactory. so very close to Europa park, clean, new and modern rooms and decent and friendly stuff. breakfast too was good enough!
The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is new, very well designed. the Teo bedroom apartment had a great layout was very comfortable for our family of four.
