We stayed in the hotel for a week. The check-in process was easy and fast. Natalia was (Front desk) was extremely nice and helpful at all times. She remembered my name from the check-in process. She went the extra mile to help us when needed.
Breakfast was amazing. We loved the food. Great variety and everyone working at the restaurant was amazing.
We went to the beach and used their umbrellas and chairs, there was someone very nice working there and setting everything up for the guests. The beach was clean and there wasn't a lot of people there.

So many homeless people defacating and urinating in every corner. Constantly bothered for money and food. During the nights approached by underage prostitutes in front of ineffective police. The cigarette sellers openly offer cocaine and other drugs and the noise from the bars competing with each other is just plain ridiculous. Extremely disappointed to find that all the beautiful pictures are of beaches only accessible by boats and 4WD vehicles meaning you pay through the nose to get to them.and get herded everywhere in groups. If you want natural beauty on the Caribbean… go to Tolu.

The city itself is worth visiting for a day and a night (the atmosphere is very nice in the evening as well) but the surroundings are really a must you have to get out of the city and discover Tayrona, Los Cocos, Palomino, Minca etc...

We were expecting a beautiful beach with sunbeds, but it didn´t look very appealing to spend time there, so we had to go to Rodadero instead, it is of course crowded there, but the beach is nicer. The service is unfortunately not better and we also couldn´t find sunbeds at the beach, just chairs and the price was exagerated

Santa Marta is a cool little town.
Santa Marta is a cool little town. It seems more like the "local" vacation spot where Colombians go to vacation or the beach. My group seemed to be the only Americans in town. We found some great local restaurants and everyone was very nice. Very few English speakers though.
Everyone recommends Playa Blanca - but it's only accessible by boat. We chose Playa Rodadero in town and it was fun. Lots of merchants constantly asking you to buy things though.
The staff at Don Pepe were the best we encountered on our whole 1 month trip. Everyone was so friendly and smiley, and went out of their way to be helpful and to make our experience even better. The check-in drink was delicious and the breakfast was the best hotel breakfast we've had on our trip. The location is exactly where you would want to stay in Santa Marta and the rooftop with amazing views and sun trap was a great addition. This is the best place to stay if you are visiting Santa Marta
The hotel was perfectly located to get around Santa Marta, the hotel is also quiet at night so the noise from busier streets near by doesn’t effect your sleep. The staff were also really friendly, accommodating and extremely helpful when booking trips to minca and tayrona. Also helped a lot with getting around Santa Marta. Breakfast was also good and the room was very comfortable. Roof top is also nice for a drink in the evening if you don’t fancy walking into town.
Although downtown Santa Marta is not the nicest place ever, the hotel was very close to everything you could need, restaurants, banks, supermarkets, etc. I stayed here one night because the market where you take the buses to Tayrona is super close. If your purpose is to rest in Santa Marta for an affordable price and bound for Tayrona the next morning then this is your hotel.
Viajero feels more like a boutique hotel than a hostel. We loved the spacious common areas and rooms. Breakfasts were delicious and diverse. Viajero Hostel is located a short walk from the city centre, which for us was a benefit - the area is quiet and peaceful.
Big thanks to our amazing receptionist, Maria - we could not ask for a better welcome in Colombia. <3
Truly the most beautiful hotel ive stayed at in all of colombia. It was so soothing and calming and the layout and architecture was gorgeous. The room itself was super quiet and lovely and clean. They had three pools to choose from and the breakfast was delicious. They freshly make what you want on a traditional menu plus an all you can eat section
This is the second time we are staying here and, like the first time, we were pretty happy with the room and the facilities of the hotel. It is small but modern and clean, great location, and friendly staff. I am pretty sure that I will stay there again when I am back in Santa Marta.
They also prepared a vegan breakfast for me.
The attention was excelent. Gisela and Alber are great hosts always willing to solve any inconvenience. The location of both of their hotels (this one in Santa Marta and the other at Taganga) is great. It is not a 5 stars experience but as the name of the hotel says, its comfortable in all aspects. We're thankfull
Everything about Hotel Camali was wonderful. You can tell this hotel is ran by people who actually care about others. It is such a lovely experience. Truly an oasis in Santa Marta. Every aspect of our stay was incredible. From the delicious breakfast, to the lovely pool, to the hammocks everywhere.
Very quiet, nice, basic hotel near the center of Santa Marta. The room was big enough for me and the bed was comfortable. A/C worked like a charm, the breakfast was big and varied, and the rooftop in general was a nice place to sit. Bonus points for the very friendly staff.
El Cactus in Santa Marta continues to be our favorite hotel in Colombia and we stay here every time we are in the neighborhood. The staff is extremely attentive and friendly, go over the top for special occasions, and we love our rooftop suite.
This hotel is on a nice quiet residential street in an excellent location. The room was very clean and comfortable with an updated, quiet, efficient AC unit. Liz was very helpful and friendly! We loved the feel of a bit of Santa Marta history.
Small hotel 15 minutes walk from Gaira beach. Easy 30 minute bus journey to Santa Marta. Very friendly and helpful staff, a good pool and terrace. Nice Square outside hotel for food and drinks in the evening.
After having travelled quite a bit around Colombia, I can say this hotel had one of the most comfortable beds we've had.
Nice breakfast and staff was accommodating to our early start. AC works perfect
Good clean hotel room for one night we stayed in Santa Marta before heading to Minca. did everything we needed, decent shower, beds and wifi with ability to buy drinks and snacks.
