Pereira is a great city to use as a hub if renting a car.
Pereira is a great city to use as a hub if renting a car. The exchange rate allows one to stay at the 5 star hotels located in the heart of the city, on the main street next to all shops, malls and main plaza.
Pereira has a functional airport on its outskirts and is also a quick drive to Salento, Filandia, Valle del Cocora or any of the natural hot springs.
Dont get too overwhelmed by the first impression and the streets are always busy.

I love Pereira.
I love Pereira. However, I am biased because my husband is from there. Pereira is a nice city with lots of restaurants, bars and clubs. There are several malls, a couple of which are very nice. The people are super friendly, as all most Colombians. There are lots of taxis. I am very white, lol, and I have never been overcharged by anyone when I was not with my husband or Colombian friends. Some of our favorite restaurants are Zelva and Bianco. Try La Lucerna for breakfast, they open at 9:00am. For a super unique evening dining experience, visit El Columpia Parrilla in Dosquebradas. You will not regret it.

Pererira is a center city in the "eje cafetero" (coffee region) and you can reach many touristic places from there. You can find nice places, we ate at Rodizio in Mall San PAblo and it was great.
Avoid to travel in "peak" dates because some places are too crowded.

People very nice and friendly. Beautiful Christmas decorations everywhere. Everything is walkable to shopping malls, parks, sight seeing. Hotel was perfect classy. Coffee, ice cream and food downstairs. Reception knew how to direct you to anywhere you wanted to go whether walking, or taxi.
Eduardo and his staff greeted us with friendliness, attention, and welcoming. They had amazing fresh breakfast in the morning with great arepas and selection of Colombian baked goods. Personal chef at night, and very thoughtful about making guests feel like they are getting the most attention. Great sauna and jacuzzi experience. Transportation? they'll help you, need lunch? they'll, get it delivered for you. Overall we left feeling very pleased with the humanity of the staff in treating their guests.
The hotel looks amazing and the restaurant area was really cozy. We just wanted to stay for a night at the beginning and due to how we felt, we decided to stay 5 nights. The Suite(rooms outside) was perfect.
What really made the stay even better was the friendliness of all the staff in the hotel. Everyone is so helpful and the service was amazing.
We will definitely will come back next year.

Staff is the real added value of this place, super kind available and really keen on supporting us for different requests: for organizing an excursion the morning after, for ordering dinner, for welcoming/keeping our luggage even if we left...what else?! Thanks a lot. Position is great if you plan to use autobus considering that Pereira terminal is just around the corner; otherwise, for easier "nightlife" it would be better stay closer to Circunvalar
It's a really large and comfortable one bedroom apartment, I am a motorcycle tourist that was stuck in the rain the hotel I planned to stay at was not safe so I booked this last minute which I would not recommend but the reaction to a last minute booking was great. It's a good place to stay a week at a time not just for one night. Off street secure parking garage. Ground floor unit walk out. Good security
This hotel is one of the best in Pereira. We had a room on the top floor with a beautiful view over the city. Just across from the hotel is a beautiful cathedral. The breakfast was very good. The beds were comfortable. We had lunch in the hotel restaurant and the food was good. The staff are friendly and some of them speaks good English. The room and the bathroom were spacious and very clean.
My stay at El Lugar was fantastic! The hosts were really nice, welcoming and took care of my every need. The food at the restaurant was DELICIOUS (Danish cuisine) and very fresh. The room was spacious and immaculately clean. The bed was really comfortable and the linens soft. You can tell that Nora and Juergen put a lot of effort into this Boutique Hotel and I would recommend it hands down! 10/10
Very decent for the price. Read some negative comments on the area at night, but went out at night to the convenience store 2 blocks down and it did not feel like a dangerous area at all. Breakfast was ok, though nothing special. Decent place if you need a cheap place to stay in Pereira.
As always this is a great place to be when in Pereira. The hotel has really good facilities, rooms are spacious and well laid out. Location is perfect. It's also a nice combination of a quality hotel with a tropical flair having most common facilities actually half-open to the outside
As the usual in Colômbia, the staff were outstanding. Willing to help and to solve problems. We arrived very early in the morning and the found a way to let us to the check-in ( paying half of a day rate). They were very organised and friendly too

We loved the fact that the hotel is a little bit outside the city, very quiet and overlooking nature. The bed was comfortable. The room is not too big, but it has everything you need. The breakfast was lovely, freshly cooked.
For the first time in two weeks in Colombia I had a REALLY COMFORTABLE bed , with … FEATHER PILLOWS !! Not only that but , the receptionist and the doorman were lovely and really helpful ! The breakfast was very good .
