Pereira is a great city to use as a hub if renting a car.
Pereira is a great city to use as a hub if renting a car. The exchange rate allows one to stay at the 5 star hotels located in the heart of the city, on the main street next to all shops, malls and main plaza.
Pereira has a functional airport on its outskirts and is also a quick drive to Salento, Filandia, Valle del Cocora or any of the natural hot springs.
Dont get too overwhelmed by the first impression and the streets are always busy.

I love Pereira.
I love Pereira. However, I am biased because my husband is from there. Pereira is a nice city with lots of restaurants, bars and clubs. There are several malls, a couple of which are very nice. The people are super friendly, as all most Colombians. There are lots of taxis. I am very white, lol, and I have never been overcharged by anyone when I was not with my husband or Colombian friends. Some of our favorite restaurants are Zelva and Bianco. Try La Lucerna for breakfast, they open at 9:00am. For a super unique evening dining experience, visit El Columpia Parrilla in Dosquebradas. You will not regret it.

Pererira is a center city in the "eje cafetero" (coffee region) and you can reach many touristic places from there. You can find nice places, we ate at Rodizio in Mall San PAblo and it was great.
Avoid to travel in "peak" dates because some places are too crowded.

SAFE place--don't believe the media reports. Exceptionally safe as long as you go to the main squares and dont stay out past midnight etc.

People very nice and friendly. Beautiful Christmas decorations everywhere. Everything is walkable to shopping malls, parks, sight seeing. Hotel was perfect classy. Coffee, ice cream and food downstairs. Reception knew how to direct you to anywhere you wanted to go whether walking, or taxi.
The hotel is a beautiful piece of classy style full of chandeliers. Its located in Centro and everything is at walking distance. The staff Aanna,Lorena,Juliet and two more girls are all very helpful, caring, full of information and having a sweet lovely smile always. The breakfast staff Kathy and get assistant are also very caring and smiling. The rooms are quite big and have classy furniture and the housekeeping staff keeps it clean and tidy. At the reception level there is a bar, restaurant,travel agency and a Spa.
It's a really large and comfortable one bedroom apartment, I am a motorcycle tourist that was stuck in the rain the hotel I planned to stay at was not safe so I booked this last minute which I would not recommend but the reaction to a last minute booking was great. It's a good place to stay a week at a time not just for one night. Off street secure parking garage. Ground floor unit walk out. Good security
Everything was great overall. The staff was professional and helpful, the room was comfortable and well-equipped, and the bed was comfortable. The hotel had a very elegant and cosmopolitan feel. One of the best breakfasts I’ve had in a hotel in Colombia. Loved the Jacuzzi. The hotel was not overpriced and was in a great area near a mall, restaurants, bars, etc. I would stay again hands down.
Wonderful hotel with excellent rooms and staff. The bed was comfortable, shower had hot water, stable internet, it was in a safe area with many restaurants and cafes nearby, the breakfast was great, the staff helped me get a taxi and wash my clothes, there was ac in the room, has a nice terrace and hot tub. Very satisfied with my stay and highly recommend to anyone passing through Pereira!
very nice, but older hotel in the city centre of Pereira. The location felt were safe, also in the night. We appreciate breakfast in the bed, which, however we were not able to get as we left early morning. But it is a great value for the money. Shower with nice hot water and strong pressure is plus.
I really enjoyed my stay here. The staff at this hotel are really welcoming, helpful and friendly. They show initiative when needed too with taxis and further bookings. They have a great location near the centre with good shopping and restaurants nearby. The hotel is very secure at night too.
For the first time in two weeks in Colombia I had a REALLY COMFORTABLE bed , with … FEATHER PILLOWS !! Not only that but , the receptionist and the doorman were lovely and really helpful ! The breakfast was very good .
I can't write anything about this hotel because as soon as we arrived with the reservation made months before, we were told that they didn't have a room available so I had to book another hotel at the last minute.
