I cannot express how wonderful the staff at Nena are. Olga, Ivan, and all of the front of house staff were an absolute pleasure and a life saver. Ivan helped us to meet a couple of nice people who manage boat excursions from the beach which really made the trip for my girlfriend and I. The balcony overlooking the beach was wonderful and the staff brought a lovely dessert up to us our first night as a welcome since we were there for her birthday. A+++ and 5* to the staff there.

We stayed two nights at Uriel's newly constructed pool villa "Casa Cafur" in the nearby town in Santa Ana, and spent the days at his Playa Tranquila beach house (quiet part of playa Blanca)
Strong winds damaged most of the beach earlier that week so we were unable to spend the night as planned but Uriel saved our vacation with his pool villa, then we got to spend the days anyway at Playa Blanca so it was the best of both worlds. The beach is a quick 6000 peso ride from the villa.
Let me tell you, when you enter Casa Cafur you realize you are entering somewhere special. You get that "wow" feeling once you enter the doors. It's a peaceful paradise, and feels totally private. He keeps the pool clean, and the cocktails are delicious! His staff are totally cool and they take care of everything like the richest resort.
I proposed to my girlfriend at his beach house (posada donde Uriel) and when we returned to Casa Cafur, Uriel cooked us lobster and shrimp, champagne and we had the whole place to ourselves. Music, hammocks, cocktails and a clean pool.
The village of Santa Ana is cool too, we drank and danced with the locals and sharwd way too many dollar beers.
I trust Uriel and will always come back! Thank you Uriel for a special 3 days.

Wow this location is AMAZING. Truly it was a private beach all to ourselves… only one other couple there on our first night. The property only has 4 rooms total so you’re never going to have a bunch of people there. The staff were SO accommodating and patient with our lack of ability to speak Spanish. We only speak English, staff only spoke English but they always used translation making it very easy to communicate! I saw other reviews complaining about the food being overpriced and no hot water for the shower which seems silly to me after now experiencing how remote this place is! It was my toddlers first travel experience, and I was SO happy with the comfort Carey House offered. Is it a luxury hotel, no. But does it have everything you need on a remote beach location with PERFECT Carribean swimming and the best staff ever? Yes. We will be coming back!

I love how close the place is to nature, beach is amazing , the rustic cabanas are beautiful .The only thing I didn’t like it were the locals trying to sell their products in a way that can be annoying.

The only way to get from the arrival area to your hotel is to walk along the beach with your luggage or by boat. When the seas are ruff and there are no boats you must carry your luggage through the sand and water. Depending where your hotel is, that could be a mile. There is one tiny bodega on the beach to buy soda and beer and not much else. It’s best for a short stay.

Horrible place, instead of the sea breeze you'll enjoy exhaust from the dozens of motorboats and scooters cruising everywhere without any rules. They make a horrible noise all over the day, combined with loud music from each bar it caused a headache. Food and drinks are extremely expensive, we got poisoned by some food there being sick for 3 days.
Trash is everywhere behind the beach line.

Before 11 am and after 5 pm, it is beautiful. Between those hours, however, there are an overwhelming number of visitors and vendors. The water is full of so many people offering rides on jetskis, banana boats, tour boats, etc, that rather than smell the ocean air you smell gas. If you want peace and quiet you need to trek about 2 kms to the peaceful section of Playa Blanca.

Baru was a big surprise for us in all the right ways.
Baru was a big surprise for us in all the right ways.
Family of 3 with a 10 year old, stayed 6 days, 2 different hotels.
Beautiful white sandy beaches, turquoise colored waters and fresh sea food ( learn your prices and always check before accepting anything).
The family time spent there is unforgettable. The people are kind and respectful. The island is safe and after 4pm starts to calm down and at 7-8 pm it's quiet and peaceful.
Most people spent a day and leave, but i recommend you stay and do the activities. We did snorkeling and raccon as well as the Plancton (DO NOT MISS IT! ).

Nena beach resort AC, pool and beach beds.
Amazing Staff and rustic/minimalist atmosphere. From all the places, hotels and hostels this is for sure one of the best places to stay in Baru. Luis (the owner) and all the staff was really attentive and cared about all requests. Good food and breakfast. Lovely dinners by the sea...
The place is extremely rustic, romantic and cute all built in wood structure.
Missing some commodities but that's the spirit in wild Baru ;)
Good white sandy beach, local food and blue sea!
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all fresh, warm, and delicious. Each meal came with a juice which was very refreshing. The location on the island is in a perfect place. This place stays busy throughout the day. Boats stop to allow groups to swim and eat. The staff was very accomodating in every way. The staff helped us make accomodating for a boat taxi and for a taxi back to Cartagena. If you're looking to stay on the Island of Baru, I recommend this place.
Great hotel to disconnect, relax and just enjoy the see.
The staff is the best value of the hotel, always ready to help, and to solve any inconvenience. Specially, María Lena and Luis in the reception, William in the dining room, the guy who help with the luggage, and other ones I don't remember the name.
The food is very good, fresh products and enough variety.
I was with my family, 8 person's, but it is also good for couples. You have enough private atmosphere.
The hotel is right on a white sand beach, and all rooms have stunning ocean views. It has all the amenities we need. Though we only used our room for a day trip, we enjoyed every bit of a few hours there. One of the owner/managers arranged the transportation to go back to our Cartagena airbnb, to the extent he walked with us in the night to the cab parked some distance away. We very much appreciated it!
The place and staff are amazing!
The landscape where the hotel is located is just fantastic.
The room gives a unique and exquisite experience, including the shower. I loved it!
The owners of the hotel, Juan Camilo and his mother, are extremely kind and friendly, also the food was very tasty and a generous menu with multiple options.
I highly recommend spending a few nights there.
This hotel is by far one of the best on the seafront in Barú. We walked the whole beach, saw all the accommodation and tried different bars and restaurants. We always kept going back to Playa Surf for the great drinks, food and service.
The rooms are super comfortable and clean and the staff are helpful and friendly which adds the cherry to the top of an already good cake.
The staff is AMAZING! Joseph, Jose, Luz, Reyes and Pantera took care of my little kid like their own, making sure he had everything he needed! We were staying for 2 nights and stayed for 5. The location is amazing with a crystal water white sand beach Max 15 people! And the food amazing, one of the best cuisines in Barú.
Rafael and Sol we’re just wonderful. Tjhe proximity to the beach and ocean were great. The staff was so helpful. They helped us arrange transportation from the airport, including a van and taxi boat, as well as boat transportation the next day to enjoy the islands and go to our next hotel destination. So nice!
Staff was amazing, very attentive to details, always at our service!
the location is great, a bit far from the beach land entrance which is great cause the entrance is crowded during the day.
the hotel is great, great food and good value for money!
we loved it, much as gracias!
Great location on the beach. The bungalow is really nice with the ocean view from the balcony. You can easily get tours to the other islands or just stay in playa Blanca. You never have to leave the hotel if you don’t want to. The staff are very nice and helpful.
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The pool was a great way to escape the midday heat and crowds on the beach. The food was well prepared. I appreciated that there was always somewhere for hotel guests to sit and relax, even with day time visitors.
Top location, out of the most common and crowded fancy places in Baru. Quiet and relaxing. Swimming pool was really nice. Restaurant delicious. Day-trips to Rosario islands well organized from Casa Cordoba, really worthy. A place to recharge yourself.
The property was large but provided cats with driver for easy and fast transportation around the property. The food was great and the restaurant staff were friendly and attentive. I enjoyed being able to eat right on the water.
We loved hanging out on the beach and having access to the many activities - snorkling, paddle boarding, volleyball. The staff was helpful and friendly. The restaurant was a great introduction to Colombian food - delicious!
Lovely hotel, absolutely outstanding facilities. The dinner and lunch were amazing, really great food, very fresh. The staff is very knowledgeable and incredibly helpful; they were very kind - always smiling and attentive.
Everything! The food was delicious, the hospitality was great. The hotel is in an secluded area and you have a private beach. You are surrounded by nature, making it a serene and peaceful, unwinding stay.
