Fantastic village to take Bernina Express.
Fantastic village to take Bernina Express. However, if yo wish to take Bernina, then dont rent a car rather buy Swiss rail passes which seem expensive but then all transport is free and you get 50% off on Bernina express, Glacier express, and all private rides like Titlis Air and others. So this is well worth a spend.

We only stayed 1 night in Chur and were thus unable to fully explore the town itself and the surrounding area. There is a good range of shops, historic buildings and churches (especially the cathedral) which are worth visiting. It's not a large town but there are several attractive squares to wander around and, like most places in Switzerland, extremely clean and tidy. We ate at a very good restaurant/bar called Calanda - great service/atmosphere/food and drink choices.

The cable car was fantastic, would have stayed another day just to take full advantage of this… However it’s very expensive in Chur… eating out was prohibitive for us due to how much it would have cost, we could stay in a good apartment in Bolzano Italy for one night for the same cost as a meal for two.. even buying food from the supermarket is expensive… btw Bolzano is a fantastic place to visit ..

We loved Chur. Beautiful , historic old town in the centre.
We loved Chur. Beautiful , historic old town in the centre. It seemed like a town where regular working folk lived rather than being very touristy although there were tourists. Interesting Viamal Gorge and walk accessibly easily by train and bus . As it was raining we didn’t go on the walk just the short walkway by the cafe .

Pleasantly surprised with our stay which was scheduled around taking the Bernina Express. Had we researched Chur, would have planned a longer stay. Chur is worth considering if you enjoy long nature walks. mountain biking or just being outside in the fresh mountain air.
Very central location, good for the train station. Nice breakfast with lovely fresh bread. We knew about the shared toilets when we booked, but I was pleasantly surprised by how clean they always were and how little we had to queue for the shower. This may have been because the hotel was quiet, I certainly did not see many other guests. The room was lovely and warm. We could hear noise from outside on the street but not enough to keep me awake. Considering it was one of the cheapest hotels in Chur it was fine.
Excellent breakfast. Spacious room. Good size desk. Very comprehensive folder of information on the desk about all the facilities and services offered by the hotel plus information about where to find things in Chur. Reading light high enough on the wall to be able to read in bed. Hotel is in easy walking distance from the railway station. Hotel allows you to leave your luggage in reception area if you arrive before checkin time.
Great value for money (taking into account costs in Switzerland). Very clean. Great staff. Option to have breakfast ready in the fridge to eat wherever you want (great option for hikes).
Location is superb. It's an old prison, which gives an extra cool vibe. Because of the thick doors there was no noise (except for some outside from renovations, but we were warned about that and will be over soon).
The hotel is located about 20 minutes walk from the railway station, in the old part of the town. It is in a very old building, with many original features, especially in the dining/breakfast room. It is, however, a fairly basic hotel in terms of the room but very much typical of hotels in this price range all across Switzerland. This hotel is fine for a 1 night stay
Hotel is located very close to Highway at the south Chur's exit - easy to find - it's like an American motel, but the Swiss way. You can park your car in front of your room's door that is quite convenient when travelling with a lot of luggage - moreover the restaurant is excellent. Breakfast perfect. This hotel-restaurant is "top" and not that expensive.
Fantastic location and facilities. Bus 10,11,12 go straight from the Chur station to right in front of the hotel within 7 minutes (6 stops). The receptionist (Pavi) was ultra good and courteous and gave me and my family two rooms and both were balcony view. Awesome ...really a good place to stay!
PS: will upload pictures fro the balcony later on!
Staff were very pleasant. Breakfast was a good spread. Had dinner in the restaurant twice and the meals were good. The hotel is situated on the edge of the old town so very convenient to explore. Chur itself is a good base for exploring the very scenic areas leading to the likes of Tirano, Arosa, St.Moritz etc using the local rail network.
Great location in a historic building in the old part of Chur. The hotel was everything we needed for our brief stay in Chur -- comfortable bed, warm shower, and clean. Staff was very nice, though our interactions were limited by the brevity of our stay. We also had some nice views across the city from our room which was an added bonus.
Met with friendly receptionist who greeted us warmly. Perfect location in old town and walkable to train station. Room was large for hotels in Europe and very comfortable beds. Breakfast was good with hard boiled eggs, toast, yoghurt, fruit and cappuccino. Staff was incredibly hospitable. Would certainly stay here again.
Hotel is clean...quiet..attached to a shopping mall...a COOP with food and accessories...etc. The hotel has indoor parking and is located an easy travel distance to Flims...Laax...Falera....St Moritz ...and Davos Klosters. This is a business hotel and very unfussy: no grand lobby..etc. the restaurant was very good.
Great hotel. Switzerland so ridiculously expansive. Found this hotel for a reasonable price wasn’t expecting much due to the low price to be honest but it was great friendly staff, clean big rooms with very comfortable beds, Really good location Breakfast was great.
The hotel is located in an old building that was beautifully adapted into a Hotel. The staff was very friendly and welcoming and the breakfast was a buffet with a lot of local food and a good atmosphere. The room is a bit on the smaller side but still cozy.
The bottle of wine that was left for us after the mass confusion of zero communication for several hours after our arrival with no possible way to gain entrance & leave our luggage - lost a good portion of our one day only in Chur
Breakfast was personalised and lots of variety.
Hotel brilliantly situated for old quarter exploring.
Chur an exceptionally interesting town to explore and very picturesque
Relatively affordable ( by Switzerland standards) near train station, restaurants, cafes and grocery stores. Renovated older building with kitchenettes.
