Breakfast there was none. Unfortunately front staff charged my card twice and have made it exceedingly difficult to get them to rectify this recommend you pay in cash they seem like there’s a lack of consideration. I have stayed at many Sandman over the year, and this is by far the worst experience I’ve ever had with them

The Fisherman's Wharf was interesting with the nicely decorated houses people live in and the lovely hot donuts we ate there. We enjoyed walking around the downtown, having lunch at the Irish Times, walking through the Empress Hotel, and taking a water taxi to Milestones for our dinner. I wish that I could have visited longer and see Emily Carr's house but it was closed at the time. Victoria is a lovely city and James Bay Village is quaint and my favourite place to walk.

Beautiful city with many places within walking distance.
Beautiful city with many places within walking distance. Don't miss Butchart Gardesn, Fisherman's warf and the parliament building at night. we had two dogs so meals at fishermans warf were the best and most accomodating. Our stay was too short but it gave us enough ideas for a longer return trip.
totally worth it!

Would be helpful if there was a bus on Bellville st.
Would be helpful if there was a bus on Bellville st. As it’s a long walk for a handicap person to walk up to Douglas st.
Over all felling Victoria needs to do more to make the city more handicap accessible. Many businesses have stairs that are very restricted.

Victoria is a great city to visit for a walking visit.
Victoria is a great city to visit for a walking visit. Don't bother with a car - parking is expensive or non-existent. Skip the tourist shops on Government Street (except Murchies Teas). Beacon Hill Park is nice especially in spring or summer. The walk around the waterfront presents some interesting views. The Royal British Columbia Museum is a great place to learn about the history of western Canada. Overall, a nice, comfortable place to visit with slight British flavor.

I lived in Victoria for 20 years and have stayed at the Emptess numerous times before and since. I find your attitude and facilities impersonal and commonplace. No individuality or character.
Run of the mill. Even the Union Club is more comfortable.
The Empress had a certain atmosphere you have lost it. No different than any other American hotel. I would stay at the Magnolia for convenience or Dashwood Inn. The only difference between the the Emptess and Sandmans is price.
You do have excellent staff. All your recent “ improvements seem to be money oriented and an effort to be “ politically correct “

Victoria is a beautiful city.
Victoria is a beautiful city. We were able to experience most of it on foot and bicycle. People were so kind and we felt safe the whole time. We also used city transit which is very clean and safe. Very impressed with our overall visit and I hope I can get back to see more. On a side note, we were there in April and many things were closed on Mondays. And a lot of the city doesn't open until 10 am even on regular work days. One of our favorite things was Fishermans Wharf. The food and atmosphere were fantastic!
Location was great (easy walking distance to central parts of Victoria).
Parking very easy to access (just ignore the instructions the GPS gives, they'll take you right past the parking entrance).
Staff were helpful and friendly.
The breakfast was tasty (especially the sausages!) if basic, but offered a lot of tasty options.
Room is *very* dark with the drapes drawn. If you like that, great.
Our room was quiet, with a view over the central part of the hotel.
Right across the street from an excellent French restaurant.
Nice big comfortable rooms, walk to downtown Victoria in 10 min. Victoria was one of our favorite cities on this tour. You see the british influence in the buildings. One Seattle local told me "it's like London on a budget" - I saw London, but I didn't see it to be "on a budget" ;) ...also not more expensive than the rest of the island. We really liked the floating houses and market at fisherman's wharf. And had one of our best fish&chips with great view directly in the harbour at Red Fish Blue Fish.
The location of this hotel is perfect! Easy to walk everywhere you need to in downtown Victoria - up to Chinatown, over to the waterfront, and down to the parliament buildings, Beacon Hill Park, and Empress hotel. We really loved that it was pet friendly, had an indoor pool/hot tub, and a great restaurant (Vista 18) with a view at the top (we went for breakfast and it was really good)! The staff were all very friendly and the place was clean - will stay here again!
Lovely condo with terrace in excellent central location in downtown Victoria. A great home away from home when visiting in Victoria area. We could not have picked a better spot to stay in terms of being in the midst of things. So great to stop in as needed during the day of sightseeing for a quick change, rest, etc. Much better than a hotel room!
Like the location, restaurant and pub right in the hotel with great menu. We also like the old style of the hotel, very authentic. This is our second time we stayed there, and probably will stay again when we go to Victoria. Just 10 minutes walking to downtown and 5 minutes walk to Beacon Hill Park.
The biggest plus is the location as well as the palms restaurant below.
Conveniently located to most of the interesting spots in downtown victoria as well as close to some bus stops that can take you out further.
The palms restaurant had a great drink and food menu and made us come back for more.
Service is excellent and the room offered comfort beyond expected. There are electric bikes available to guest, which is excellent considering the hotel is close to the galloping goose trail and it is really easy to get to downtown or victoria harbour.
Word experience ever. No response from
The host for days via email text and the booking portal we were stranded in victoria with no place to stay ended up shelling out hundreds for a new hotel in a different neighbourhood. Worst service ever!!!!!
Clean, spacious rooms; free parking; good rate; good location; free breakfast; small kitchenette. We have stayed in various downtown hotels, and for the combination of the above amenities we found it the best. Would stay there again.
Everything you need for a "stay at home" visit to Victoria, great bar for evening drinks, easy walking distance to downtown area, beautiful evening view of Parliament building from our 7th floor window, very comfortable bed.
.
I loved the location of James Bay Inn, the neighbourhood is charming and interesting, close to downtown Victoria. I loved the friendly staff and their most helpful guidance to my questions about James Bay Inn and the area.
The hotel is located on the inner harbour so the view is unparalled and guests can walk to everything downtown Victoria has to offer with ease. Countless restaurants and pubs within a stone's throw.
It is a dated building but clean. The room is specious. Worth the money.
The reception lady is super nice to introduce what to see in Victoria and how to be there.
Feel welcome in this hotel.
A very charming hotel, the location was close to downtown, the staff were excellent, and the breakfast was exceptional each morning! I highly recommend Abigail’s.
We needed a place to stay for a quick overnight to Victoria to see a movie. This little hotel served the purpose well. Clean and comfortable was all we needed.
Beautiful hotel! And the staff was very friendly and helpful! Perfect location across the street from the ferry and within walking distance of downtown Victoria.
Picked this hotel because it’s walking distance to the bus station to and from Vancouver. Also walking distance to a lot of sites in downtown Victoria.
