If you’re looking for a clean, family friendly and modestly priced cabin to stay in, I would recommend Blue River. There were a couple of things that I didn’t care for. The campsite was crammed full, with RV’s parked within a stones throw of the cabins. I will admit it, however, that it was quiet after 10pm. Also, the hot water tank used for our cabin didn’t hold much hot water. My husband showered first and although he was quick used up almost all of the hot water. I had a hair full of shampoo when the water switched to cold. I rinsed and got out. Enjoyed breakfast and coffee, then finished my shower before we departed. The couple that run the cabin/campsite are really lovely. Overall, I was impressed with our experience.

Blue River was a perfect break in our trip from Edmonton Area to Kelowna. Our room was clean, quiet and the staff were very friendly and offered suggestions for walking and eating. We enjoyed a walk along the river and had a tasty bite at the Grizzly Food Shack as recommended by staff.

There is a River Safari where you can take a 1 hr boat ride in the Mud River and Mud Lake with possibilities of seeing wildlife (we only saw an osprey and her nest). The tour costs $110. Blue River doesn't have any restaurant. The only place is a burger stand.

Blue River is a simple but excellent place to stop for an overnight refresh if one is driving between the West Coast and points east (Alberta).
It's simple, with few eateries, but accommodations are available and the staff are friendly and the place is clean.

There are no places for groceries, wine store and restaurants in Blue River. I would have cancelled my reservation at no charge but it was too late and continue my trip to Kamloops for the accommodation instead would have been preferred.
I would like a refund for my stay.
Blue River is under new management and there are many changes for the better! The camp kitchen has a new log shelter built over it with a steel roof. The bathrooms and cabins have all been repainted and had new flooring put in. The cabins have new beds and linens. It's still a campground, not a luxury hotel, but everything is cleaner and much better maintained than in previous years. We'll be back!
We stayed one night at the Sandman in Blue River, before starting a canoeing trip in Wells Gray the following morning. The hotel staff were very friendly upon arrival, and I enjoyed them laying out some of the quirks of this unique hotel in a somewhat remote community. The room was very clean and quiet, and we enjoyed a restful stay before our departure.
Despicable booking!!! I got the confirmation from Booking.com yet when I called the morning of to find out if we required to bring our own bedding was told by BLUE RIVER RV & CAMPGROUND that my reservation wasn't there even though they knew my name after using the confirmation number I gave them. WOULD NEVER USE THIS PLACE EVER!!! Pathetic!
I stayed in two of your cabins this summer. What a great idea for someone on a budget that can't afford peak time hotel rates.
The cabins are very clean and comfy. There were washrooms with showers close by.
There is also a outside kitchen for anyone to use. Amazing.
Great half way point between Alberta and BC.
Hands up to the hosts:)
The manager! He was very friendly told us about Blue River. It appears he really cares about the guests. Very attentive to the guests needs. Everything was clean and neat. The little take out cafe was very good as well. The breakfast in the morning was great, just what we needed before our trip.
Very basic breakfast, next to the hotel there is the most delicious hamburger we have ever eaten... really worth it.
The town is very, very small and forgotten, but it has a magical lake that is worth visiting.
The hotel is basic and very comfortable
Good location for a stop traveling from Whistler to Lake Louise. Unexpected comfort from a small roadside hotel. Staff very informative, rooms spacious and comfortable. No noise from the highway. Next door to Grizzly Shack that served great burgers.
Very clean rooms, the bed was SO comfortable and the staff was vey friendly. The food at the restaurant was wonderful, portion size was perfect and it was very flavourful. We would definitely recommend this hotel and we would definitely stay again
The hotel called us early in the afternoon on the day we were to check-in to warn us all the restaurants in town would be closed that night and suggested we eat before getting to Blue River. The check-in staffer was awesomely friendly.
The Sandman Inn is a quaint hotel. It does the job as you are passing through.
The food at the restaurant was amazing. Every meal was thoroughly enjoyed.
Eleanor Lake is a lovely spot to visit while in Blue River!
We would definitely stay here again! The staff was friendly, the hotel is cozy, the rooms are huge, the beds were comfortable… I could keep going! If your in the area I highly suggest you give this hotel a try.
The location is great for us as it is halfway in a 1000 km. trip. The beds were super comfortable and the room was very clean. The location of the restaurant is great and it is the only one open in Blue River.
The location was good and I loved that we could open windows which was great as many hotels don’t offer this.
The hotel was nice and views were beautiful.
