We hesitated to book this hotel because of the previous reviews. We decided to book it and we are happy we did. It is a simple hotel, somewhat smaller rooms but comfortable. The hotel has free parking (it is not an ideal street but doable), a good location and several restaurants nearby.

Was a major highlight to our trip to Brazil. First time to Brazil and we had been to Sao Paulo, Salvador and Rio already. Travel plans changed so we neede a place to stay for one more night in Rio. Instead of staying In Rio another night, we rented a car and went to Petropils for the day/night. So glad we did. We went to the Imperila house (get a guide for really great experience unless you already know a lot about Brazil history). We ate dinner at the house of 7 errors. it was fantastic and that's saying a lot because we're picky.

Petropolis is located in the rain forest mountains on the outskirts of Rio, the one hour trip allows for beautiful views the city is very charming, among the places to visit are the Kings Palace, the Cathedral, Liberty Square, Crystal Ball Gazebo, Koeller Ave with the old mansions and the micro breweries. Most of the sites are at walking distance from each other.

Very pleasant place to be - lots of historical sites/sights - excellent shops and restaurants. For those of us who like to take it slow and easy, the public benches (which were everywhere) were a delight! It's no surprise that the emperor chose to make this his summer home. By the way, even if the city had been a disappointment (which it wasn't), the landscapes on the way in would've made up for it - they were spectacular! Try to plan your trip so that you pass through those mountains in the late afternoon, when the light is just right.

Petrópolis is a beautiful city. In my opinion, one day is enough to see the most important sights. In the church there was a really nice tour guide (also for German speaking people). You have to visit the „Bohemia“-brewery and also try a brownie with coffee at „Brownie do Ton“!

We stayed at this beautiful hotel in Petropolis which exceeded my expectations. Its location was perfect. Although we had a car but did not need it for roaming around the city centre. There are a number of interesting places to see, but the city is such a place that you can spend several days just relaxing. We were there for two days. I would have been happy to relax there for 3 or even 4.

Although driving through Petrópolis to get to the Hotel was very beautiful , especially as we got closer to the Hotel , once we arrived we never left the grounds of the Hotel :-) This place for us is a romantic escape from the real world :-) Thank you for everything you do to make it possible .
Great athmosphere of old building with a lot of history. I had a very big room arranged in the old style, even with fire place. There was a lot of places to keep my s things in the room. The breakfast is also located in old style building and it is very good. There is a lot of place around hotel to park a car. The hotel staff help in all needs.
The staff and location are both excellent, the inn is located in the heart of the town. The room was clean and very pretty, with blankets to spare (great for the cold Petrópolis nights). The breakfast was also varied and delicious with classic "Torrada de Petrópolis". Highly recommend the stay at Dom Petrópolis when you come to the city.
The hotel is comfortable but overpriced, and the location offers little to do. I would also like to suggest that Locanda adopt sustainable practices, such as banning plastic bottles and other plastic supplies, which are easily replaced nowadays by paper, wood, or other recycled materials.

Fantastic host, location not far from supermarkets, trails, Petropolis while being in the middle of the nature. The quality of the service is incredible, the food is excellent and the overall atmosphere is unique. Definitely worth going, and only 1.5 hours from Rio ….
Renewed hotel! Everything brand new. Great amenities. Very welcoming staff. Clean rooms. The hotel is well adapted to the Covid-19 pandemic, following all the guidelines. Great breakfast. Included breakfast, vallet and bellboy.
The hotel with its woodwork and colonial style is perfect to experience the imperial history of Petropolis. The view from the room was amazing. There were many options to satisfy breakfast needs. I love the pão de queijo !
Hotel is very well ubicated downtown, you can easily go walking to the most visited points in the city. No need for taxi or any other transport, the zone is very quiet so you can sleep with no noise.
The hotel staff were very good and helpful. The location is central to the sights of Petropolis. The breakfast was outstanding and the rooms very clean and comfortable.
