You must visit beaches with hour away, don't go over two hours drive because roads are nit very comfortable.
Thai is why I do recommend a tour guide like Milton.

Nothing interesting to justify a stay. We had been robbed the mobile phone in the first 2 hours of our arrival, in a quiet and modern city mall.
The beaches are nothing special, the sea difficult to enter due to the many rocks right at the bottom
Just stay the minimum you need and head for better places. Only interesting area is the fish market where you buy the seafood and nearby restaurants cook it for you.

It's a huge city and tourism has not recovered to pre-epidemic levels. The grates, tall walls, electric fences and graffiti alert you to potential trouble. The beaches are fabulous and the night life active, but tourists should take common sense precautions. The evening artisan fair on the city beach is a must visit.

What a beautiful city! the sites and view of the bay was spectacular. I felt very safe walking from the hotel to the row of restaurants along the water.
And the food was spectacular. I cannot wait to return.

And it seems like there are pockets of good spots. But overall the city is very dated. Very grimy and very polluted.
As a foreigner i would not recommend there are much nicer places in Brasil.
Fortaleza is over priced and underwhelming
Beautiful boutique hotel, breakfast was very good - not sure if it's always like this in Brasil hotels. Staff was very helpfull and rooms clean and very comfortable bed. I was alone, so didn't bother the size of the room - to my experience it was good size. Good location, 10-16 minute walk to the beach (before I knew it I was already there), supermarket right next to the hotel. All in all I liked the area, enough restaurants/bars on walking distance - you also have a bus stop in front.
The staff was supper helpful - they helped us with the luggage, parked the car, etc. Always ready to help if needed. Breakfast was pretty good with selection of juices, tea, coffee, various bread, scrambled eggs, sausages, yogurts, and other stuff. Also possible to order omelettes, etc.
The room was small, but functional with decent AC (it was pretty humid in Fortaleza, so it was useful). The location is close to the beach and some other interesting places (like Mercado Central).
The location is fabulous. The breakfast was great, many options and all good quality. I especially liked that I had the opportunity to try some traditional foods and juices. Staff was kind and patient. The bed was comfortable. At some point, to be a top hotel, the rooms should be updated, but I'd rather pay the reasonable price I paid with a simple room than to pay much more for luxe. Great water pressure in the shower. I LOVED the rooftop pool!

It is only a short drive from Fortaleza airport so it was very convenient for us for a short overnight stay. Everything met our expectations for the good price we payed. Very clean, comfortable to rest for a few hours, very nice welcome by reception clerk in the late hours of the night. We liked our stay and were very satidfied.
I really don't have the superlatives to describe how absolutely amazing the property is. From the facilities to the view you honestly could not ask for a better place to stay when visiting Fortaleza. The hosts were incredible too; communicative, friendly and always so very helpful. I can't wait to return! :)

The normal hotel that we stay at in FOR, which is meant to be the best in the city was nothing compared to this one.
