Very friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast in a nice environment, comfy beds, great views of the Preguiças river. It also has a nice spot for swimming at the river and boarding tour boats. They also allowed us to check-in in the early morning and have breakfast for a nice price, so we could enjoy a morning tour

We stayed 1 night. Purpose was to see the National Park, Lencois Maranhenses. We were advised to go to Atins or Santo Amaro instead of staying all the time in Barreirinhas as they are nicer and I would second that. It is a good base for tours and transfers to see the park.

The tours are all the same.
The tours are all the same. They drive like maniacs on bumpy roads. It is not fun for everyone and especially unnerving and tiring you have already spent half of day trekking, or then to have a very uncomfortable ride is tiresome and infantile. It should not be imposed on all visitors. That’s what are quads for and other extreme forms of transportation on sand. Also no one spoke a word of English. More guides should be trained and companies should offer visitors a choice of joining a group where the guide speaks some English. All of this on the top of a very tiresome bumpy ride from the airport. I feel like my body was shaken to the bones in the last 24 hours. And for what? To experience the serene nature of dunes and lakes the rough driving should not be mandatory but optional.

All of the development and movement in the city is concentrated in the city center which has a few nice shops and good restaurants. Other than that, the rest of the city lacks infrastructure - unfortunately, a lot of roads are unpaved and without public lighting.

Small town with little shops, pharmacies and restaurants. Communication is close to impossible there as the residents do not speak a word of English. It gets pretty tiring. Thank god for google translate. The roads are in bad shape if you rented a vehicle, look out for extremely high speed bumps and pot holes. Mosquitos everywhere! Basically, not much to do. A point of interest only because of the Lençóis dunes.

Make sure to book hotels in advance! Tours can also be done in advance. A very small town, so bring lots of cash with you. The town is very cute and felt safe. As long as you book a hotel in a generally central location, than everything is walkable distance. Dinner might be a challenge when it's very late but you can always order delivery! Amazing little gem in the state of Maranhão

People of barreirinhas are really nice and polite! The city is safe and very calm! During the night, in June, it has some people playing songs at the pier in downtown! “A canoa” has really good meals and beers! And as soon as you decide your hotel, call to them so they can make all the reservations for you to have all the activities.
Fantastic place to stay in Barreirinhas. Really top class service, food, accommodation, facilities and more. It’s a large complex, very well designed, with so much to do. We only left the premises once to go for dinner in the town, otherwise everything was readily available. Beautiful wide-ranging breakfast, great food overall, 3 swimming pools, a kids play area, sauna, massage, kayaking, easy access to excellent tours, friendly staff and a lovely clientele. A hammock outside each room was a very nice touch. Highly, highly recommended.
The staff were so lovely and helpful. The reason we booked here was because I read that they were helpful in the reviews and it was true. They helped us book a very last minute amazing tour, and also a transfer to Jeri. We were able to enjoy our limited time in Barreirinhas because of their kindness - if we had not stayed there our experience would not have been as good. The coffee was some of the best we’ve had in Brazil.
The rooms are big, clean and confortable.
The breakfast is really good and includes a huge variety of local food.
There is a pool open until 23hrs (different from others hotels, that closes at 20hrs) and also the food in the restaurante at the Pool is good and not expensive.
The staff is supportive and the trip couldn’t be better.

Lovely peaceful hotel, really nice staff. The rooms were spacious and clean and the food from the restaurant was good. Would 100% recommend.
It is however about a 20 minute walk into town but that didn’t bother us.
