professional staff, meticulous premises, food was fabulous.
Picturesque, original, beautiful. I used to go skiing here and the village hasn't changed a bit in the 25 years since. One of the most beautiful areas of Austria which has way more to offer than just skiing in winter (even if the skiing resorts are exceptional as well) - a nice lake, good restaurants and lots of opportunities for trips in the surrounding areas.

This is a beautiful area.
This is a beautiful area. The lake at Pillersee is very nice and a great place to spend a couple of hours relaxing and dipping your feet.
I would highly recommend the Biathlon trail in Hochfilzen, this is a 16km hike over the mountains surrounding Hochfilzen but it is really beautiful and you receive a nice medal at the end (assuming you complete all the stations).
Fieberbrunn is also really great. On top of the mountain there is a small roller coaster which is great fun, plus a water park and a high rope course for kids within the trees.
Highly recommended area for families with kids.

Sankt Ulrich am Pillersee is a quiet rural place good both for active kinds of leisure and for those who want to get away from crowded cities and spend their spare time on nature sites in silence and peace. Mountain and cross-country skiing in winter and hiking, cycling in summer make this place attractive for sport lovers. Sankt Ulrich has a supermarket Spar, wellness center which offer their guests to visit swimming pool and sauna. Being quiet place in a mountain area, Sankt Ulrich is not that far away from Salzburg and Munich to reach by car.

I commuted to Hochfilzen, in order to attend the IBU Biathlon World Cup event. This was the principal reason I travelled here. The fans are fantastic and very passionate about the sport. The public transport was very helpful in commuting from hotel to resorts to the biathlon arena - free during the event's entirety. The scenery is incredible, something you have to experience, and you will have to spend a longer time here than you want to. It is affordable and well worth the trip.
