Sure, the building is old but I found it very charming, plenty of character, and this is part of the draw and culture of the Alpes!
Reception was great. Shower was great. Bed was comfortable. Skiroom. Balcony views! Great location--bus stop right there; minutes to bakery and restaurants.

We loved the suite. It had everything we needed and more. It was modern, clean and bright and lots of space. My kids loved their room with the bunk beds. I was also pleasantly surprised how close the hotel was to the Dorfbahn gondola for skiing, even my kids could walk there. The pool was also fantastic. Although it was smaller than we imagined, it was so nice to use it when the weather wasn’t cooperating. And we loved having a quick swim at the end of the day.

Great place to stay when you want to go walking/ hiking. We went in the summer, and were amazed by the scenery and well thought out and maintained hiking paths.
If you plan to drive here using your own car, it is good to know that nearly every parking is payed, it isn't much, usually 4 or 5 euros a day, but if you plan to drive about a bit this can quickly add up.

Cozy village. Great gondel rides to the mountain tops. Stores for shopping available in next village, Mittelberg itself is not good for that. Only a few 100m away though, so no problem. Free buses (with the touristcard) go all the time.
We stayed in the studio, which is on the 2nd floor of the house where the owners live. The studio had enough space for 3 people. Beds were comfortable, a kitchen well equipped, there was a small dining table in the kitchen.
The studio is close to two lifts, both are about 5 min walking uphill. Hiking trails along river Breitach start just in front of the house. The Helgenweg bus stop is about 50 meters away, bus 1 connects Baad, Mittelberg and Rizlern to Oberstdorf. All the photos where taken in the Mittelberg-Baad area.
The apartment is located in Aparthotel Kleinwalsertal, about 25 min to walk from Mittelberg. There is a bus stop (Bus 1 to Oberstdorf) 200 m from the aparthotel entrance, and a local grocery store 700 m along the main road (201) direction Baad.
The apartment is refurbished and well equipped. You will have access to a small indoor swimming poll (often overcrowded) and a sports hall with table tennis and basketball (there are pingpong bats in the apartment).
What a fabulous little place!!! Wonderful, friendly and helpful hosts, excellent location (easily accessible by public transport from anywhere in Germany, with final bus stop ~150 m from the house), easy access to hiking tracks along the beautiful valley and into the mountains and the regular bus connecting the villages along the entire valley, very generous breakfast, warm and lovingly decorated interior. Just fabulous. Can't wait to return.
Exceptional Spa area - panoramic pool and panoramic relax area with a beautiful Mountain view, 2 types of hammam, 3 types of saunas, extremely beautiful, clean and stylish to the last detail! A place to achieve full relax - not only in the hotel but also in the area - picturesque Alpine small village. If this is what you are looking for - this is the place.
Very welcoming and cozy apartment (#1) in the building's basement. The owners have gone great lengths with the furnishing and decoration of the place. The apartment is located in a quiet corner of Mittelberg; walking distance from the center and supermarket (~15-20 minutes). A great selection of Austrian wine is available for sale in house.
The atmothphere in the hotel is very cosy like at home. First drink was on the house. The attentive owner agreed the first night was free of charge as we are from Ukraine. Staff was very friendly, disches were tasty. Very good job, thank you. Looking forward next vacation.
